The truth doesn't matter to his followers, and people who've been paying attention already know the truth. It's those who don't pay attention one way or the other that he's hoping to spin, the people who get their information from 3-second sound bites and social media and only take in the loudest and most easily digested "news" without bothering to dig any deeper... those who take everything at face value and vote based on who promised them a tax cut most recently, the hell with the deficit. Our only hope is that more people are paying more attention lately, and that they're not as stupid as the Republicans think they are.
I'm actually not optimistic, since Trump won in the first place.
