Boxing never been a Safe Sport. If one day is Forbidden and Outlawed I will not be surprised or offended. It is the Reality of the Beast. How many Boxers have to Die 3 days after a fight or 10-20 years later living their end of days "Punch Drunk". Lets be Real here... [msn.com]

Lots of professions are dangerous. I've held jobs in 3 of those listed in the attached article, all of which are ranked higher than proffessional atheletes for thier risk of death.

Let's make proffessions safer before we get to the relative safety of our version of gladiators.

I thought my spelling was bad!!! Obviously I did tried to make a Difference and Distinction between Professionals Sports of different kind.... I know may be hard for you to concentrate in the task at hand but try.... Read with me... Boxers... not athletes... Boxing is the Sport in the subject.... Not Professional Athletes... PROFESSIONAL BOXERS.

@GipsyOfNewSpain it's one of the benefits of being dyslexic. Thanks for the understanding, A-hole.

There are no breakouts of boxers from pro athletes, so that's as good as it gets. But just for reference, ONE SINGLE BOXER HAS DIED THIS YEAR - worldwide - while 5,147 died on the job in the U.S. alone in 2017.

Hope you could keep up with that. Would you like me to run the math for you on deaths per day, or do you think you can handle that all on your own?

Never was a fan of boxing and never understood the attraction. Like football, it watching brain damage in real time.
It is their choice to participate. It is my choice not to watch.

Growing up in San Juan Puerto Rico, we used to box in the street, in the garage, on the flatbed of a truck... just gloves, no mouthpiece, no headgear, no bandages... just Guts of early youth. We outgrew it quick when Hormones kicked in. I grew up watching the sport... I still watch it every now and then but look forward for the day when they will say.... THAT'S IT, NO MORE. It is the Ideal betting sport... but should be Ban one day. I hope.

@GipsyOfNewSpain Why boxing and not baseball? Bet you were hell on wheels as a young turk.

@silverotter11 We were 8, 9, 10... before the girls. We competed on everything.... racing on the street... corner to corner, around the block... marbles, bikes, throwing rocks... you name it. Then came Baseball and later Basketball. Boxing, the older guys put us to it... the round was good they stopped the cars on the street. Later on a Ring was opened in my neighborhood but I was into girls then... no way I was going to expose my Big Nose to a Leather Fist. Only sport we don't care about is Futbol (Soccer) to you guys... we may be the only Spanish Speaking Place that do not cared for the sport. My daughter was awesomely good at it when I was living in Spain. But she was also good at Baseball and Basketball. Somehow Boxing and Puerto Ricans go Hand in Hand.

@GipsyOfNewSpain I bet you broke hearts all over the place. 🙂

@silverotter11 As a kid for us boxing was natural... I was tall, skinny and lefthanded. But surely chasing Girls was my favorite sport... writing poems since age 14.... It was a Dealmaker... I could give a Girl something other guys couldn't... My Inspiration. And yep... I could draw them too. Then came Dancing.
"Even when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in... as my last trip to My Island could testify"
