@Bigpawbullets;

Sorry, this just isn't true.

We can vote it in...and vote it out.

The decision to gain socialized medicine and education is crucial if we want to fight climate change.

The problem with Venezuela was....and still is...Oil. Read Maddow's book, BlowOut. The FFC the Fossil fuel consortium...is out to gain profits and ignore the mental and physical health of our nation.

We won't have it. Yes...we want democratic Socialism. Socialized medicine, socialized education.

What we want is medicare for all...like most civilized nations.- and no....it won't cost us more; there will be no insurance charges...only a simple higher tax....which will mean much lower costs for all of us...in a "socialist" healthy society.

And higher education - free - so we can regain our status in the world as the leader in education. In the 1950's we were #1 (taxes on the wealthiest 90%). Now we're 32nd.

The FFC.....is many times bigger than BT...big tobacco. I bet you know someone who died, far too early - mainly because they were a "smoker". I bet you have grandchildren that will be sad that you posted this naive commentary about Venezuela.

The toxicity of fossil fuels may not be that obvious.....but it will eventually lead us to irreversible, runaway global warming. Your grandchildren will explain it to you some day.

BT lied their way through decades of profits. They lied to the smokers you and I knew that died prematurely. Click on the ad images below...I remember them. I bet you do too. They were all lies. This lie above, that you posted about Venezuela, is FFC propaganda. It's a lie.

The FFC will continue to lie, decry government regulation, and enjoy the lowest taxes of any developed nation. They want their profits. They don't care about your grandkids' lungs.

Medicare for all and no private insurance premiums.
How to implement it? I don't think you can simply throw a switch.
Free higher education for all.... That sounds nice. But higher education in it's current form is not working. How would this be implemented?
I've seen no actual models of implementation for either of these political promises that would work.

@bigpawbullets Point taken.

It won't be done quickly nor easily...

but we're in quite a pickle as a nation...and for the first time, ever, longevity predictions have stopped rising for Americans. We have tens of thousands of good, hard working people going bankrupt to pay med bills....and America is behind this push for medicare for all...but...

You're right. The changeover won't be easy.

I can't say you're right about our education system. Higher education is working...for the wealthy. It's not working for the average person. We are also setting records in a separation of income equality. We have to make higher ed more affordable.

But it won't be easy. There's a lot of banks who won't be able to put hundreds of thousands in debt for decades if we change our system...

But if you really believe in MAGA...we must change both our health care system, and our higher ed system.

The Chinese are laughing at us as they extend their longevity and we shorten ours. They are by far smarter than us...and 30-40 years ago the situation was reversed.

If you're serious about MAGA....then you'd support what I'm saying, and what our nation is supporting.

@Robecology
We (my compadres & I) hear this all the time. But here at the local level, all we see are higher medical insurance premiums for far less service. The ACA doubled my medicare supplement payment, the monthly deduction from my SS increased, my choices for doctors "in plan" are severely limited.... I hate Obamacare and what it's done. And to me, that's the first step in a Socialist program which will simply fail completely.
Free education isn't going to be free. Some of us are going to have to pay for it. I'd vote for taxpayer funded college/university education, with the stipulations that only those qualified to attend would be eligible. And only for disciplines that would benefit the country. I think England has such a system where testing for knowledge and aptitude mandates where youngsters are eligible to continue on.
But just announcing that everyone can go to college for free is insane.

Oh, and I'd bet the Venezuelans thought they'd be able to successfully vote socialism out if they wanted to. But heck, those with the guns make the rules. 😎

@bigpawbullets You sound convinced...I'm sorry for your ACA -based allegations...I'm hoping the democrats get a chance to prove you wrong...and where I come from....the pen is mightier than the sword....

@Robecology
I'm convinced that the current crop of Democrats have no interest in anything but getting elected. Bernie & Lizzie are in a bidding war trying to "out left" each other in giving away "free" stuff. Joe is pushing for impeachment to garner a mob to follow him. None of them will get my vote.

@Robecology
My experiences have proven to me, sadly, that while the pen can be mighty, the sword usually wins.
