I’ve always been a live and let live atheist. As long as they are not flying planes into buildings I just ignore religion. But I’m wondering now if the “new atheists” have a valid point. Text books are passing off fantasy as fact. Evangelicals are putting deplorable people into public office, etc, etc. just wondering how my fellow atheists feel about this? I’m just not sure any more. Should we be fighting back?

Fight back by flying a plane into St Paul’s cathedral for example?

What has fighting got to do with anything?

Fighting back such as bringing court cases for example when public schools include prayer. Fighting for revoking tax exempt status for denominations that violate rules concerning political activism. Withholding funding for schools whose curriculum is not valid. Things like that..

@Cinco Good luck then.

If the religious were as live and let live as most athiests are religion wouldn't be fucking up the planet nearly as much as it is. So while it's nice to be that way, it's a one way street - unfortunatly. Yes we do need to fight back because they won't quit pushing their own made up versions of reality until everyone agrees that thier made up world is the one we inhabit.
