Have you ever done a good deed and someone assumed it's because you're Christian?

I took in a child due to a bad living situation and a co worker asked if I was Christian. I said no. She was speechless, as I assume she thought only religious people could do good deeds. But, are their good deed really selfless? My good deeds don't come with a promise to go to heaven.

Who'd want to go to heaven, anyhow? I hear nothing ever happens there.

I think most Xtains think that.

Even good deed can be associated with selfishness. And "self"ishness doesn't always have to be thought if as a negative. One must believe ones self is important enough to nourish, clothe, love, and cared-for in general. Physically and emotionally healthy can then provide the best in altruistic endeavors. Altruism provides a personal (selfish) satisfaction, while benefitting the community a large. The notion that many religious have is that morality derives from religious belief systems. Not true. Morality is part of the human evolutionary process. "I won't kill you. And you won't kill me", or "I won't involve my DNA in your reproduction (family/wife) and you won't involve yours in mine", or "You don't steal my resources from me, and I won't steal your resources from you.". Morality is an emotional and ntellectual process that has evolved by the need fir humanity to attempt to co-exist with one another with the potential that we will be allowed to thrive, as we will allow others to. Religion has nothing to do with this process. Just ask the catholic priests whose names are listed on the bishopaccountability.org as being accused or as true threats to the world's communities at large. "Christian" is so far from equivalent to what "morality" means. And morality is indeed selfish, but in a good way.

I have been "God blessed " and I do not like it . I am for truth and truth needs evidence . There is no evidence of god. I also think with all the brilliant minds who would be in heaven if there is one that someone would have gotten a message to us by now.

I a m looking for someone about my own age to talk to but not about god.
