If we want the government that serves the PEOPLE, a option can be by dismantling the 2 party system? (Disregard the "violent" part used in the meme ) Agree or disagree just a thought of the difference it could make in elections. 😬😳

It is note the party system that is broken, it is the electoral process with first past the post wins in each district. If we went to a voting system where a vote in Florida, Texas, New York or Calif counted as much as a vote from Wy, ND, SD.ID,ALaska. Right now they count much more in the smaller states than they do in the larger ones. It goes back to a 1906 law that sets the house at 435 members, but each state has to get one vote. So the 600,000 voters of WY count as much as the 1M+ in TX and CA.

Our system just needs an overhaul period.

People least suited to representing others are often the ones applying for public office.
Kind of sad that we're scraping the bottom of the barrel for decent politicians/representation.

I rather reject the premise. There are more than two political parties in the US already.

I see how it probly wouldnt work out regardless and I know they arnt the only ones but they are more popularized. I feel maybe if we could just vote towards the end instead of voting in the primary and final election it could be fair because people can change their mind on who can ultimately be the best candidate.🙄

Changing the labels of a political party will not change the ways politicians think... Resistance is futile...

I don't disagree just wanted to see if anyone else feels people should be freelance but at the same time im not sure that the populations would be ready to actually investigate on independent candidates withought the trend of their affiliated party.

First, we need to amend the constitution to make campaign financing by small donations only, or both from small donations and tax money. Funding with big money, from corporations and billionaires, has corrupted politicians.

Second, we must be vigilant, because someone will try to cheat.

Please explain how dismantling the two-party system, violently or non-violently, will achieve the result.

Maybe im assuming that this previous election could have gone diffrent if these two parties weren't to exist because most people vote at the end of the elections they don't vote in the primaries and I feel like majority of people go vote for who they affiliate themselves that can be towards Republican or Democratic party instead of voting who they really want to elect president. People are more loyal towards their party candidate then their personal choice also it's a a bit of a stretch but I feel like a lot of people did not even vote this last election because of Hillary was the Democratic nominee and a lot of people chose not to vote at all. Same goes for Republicans they won't even consider voting for a democratic candidate even if they fallow their same religion. Also media outlook perspective will actually be more factual.
