A comment I made in a therapy group. Please discuss.

Shortly after another fatal school shooting, I was compelled to create a lengthy comment that in the end was titled, Love the Pedophile, and was posted in my feed. I wanted to move away from the immediate pain of a school shooter, yet provide an example of an equally abhorrent societal outlier.

I walked readers through their most comfortable societal norms and belief systems, and filtered the concepts through a lens of love. Basically the idea was rather than discarding, ie killing, the pedophile, we needed to embrace this part of our humanity. I did not expect the victims or their close family and friends to do this, but rather the larger community. We, the community, provide the support necessary to create comfort and healing for 'the perpetrator, and during this process determine the causes, genetic, environmental, spiritual, or otherwise, that created such an imbalance, and what can be done to reduce the number of these 'imbalances' to manifest.

I must include that I wonder just how necessary some of these manifestations of our more diabolical, darker selves have become in the current condition of our planet and our place in the environmental web. At this moment, our greatest predator is ourselves. As we continue to crawl from the ocean, through the mud, and reach out to fly, what are the consequences of moving away from that which gave birth to humanity and reaching into the depths of the unknown, Oceans, space and beyond the constructs of time, to virtual reality. Not saying we should not go their, but maybe we need to slow down a bit so that wisdom can catch up with intellect. Maybe even reign it in a bit.
