I was just thinking about this last week. I think it was due to seeing a tv show in which a character suffered from a blood clot and hearing the story of the sickle cell anemia treatment with CRSPR. It occurred to me that humans might have to be modified in order to spend indefinite periods of time in space, in order to prevent such things as clots. The interesting thing to me is that I had just logically assumed that it was a problem.

I don't believe we will ever span the incredible distances to travel in that manner. Plus, at some point I don't think we will need to.
