You're my hero.
I was asked to say grace a couple of years ago. I asked for willpower not to overeat, noting that some of us were over-nourished. Haven’t been asked again.

The last and final time I was ever asked to say Grace at the extended family Thanksgiving dinner. Linda & I had just returned from a Caribbean snorkeling excursion. We had attended a Voodoo ritual where I apparently picked up one of those pesky Belafonte spirits. It decided to manifest right after my 'prayer'.....

It depends whose dinner table it is. Not involved in that manner of etiquette I don’t know, but I would have thought it was the host that said grace.

One time I did the "Good bread, good meat, good lawd, let's eat" prayer... They were NOT impressed..
@Captain_Feelgood I tried "God is grace God is good, thank you God for all dis food".
That did not go over well.
If I had a nickel for every time.... And it's usually the smart ass that KNOWS I'm an Atheist that makes the suggestion... with a "fuck you" smirk on their face..
