In Matthew Chapter 1, Matthew makes a serious error. In verse 17 Matthew tells us………””17So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations””
But Matthew miscounts the generations. This is serious because God himself supposedly inspired the writing of the Gospel of Matthew.
Lets take a look at Matthew’s counting skills………
Matthew 1
1The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2Abraham 1 begat Isaac; and Isaac 2 begat Jacob; and Jacob 3 begat Judas and his brethren;
3And Judas 4 begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares 5 begat Esrom; and Esrom 6 begat Aram;
4And Aram 7 begat Aminadab; and Aminadab 8 begat Naasson; and Naasson 9 begat Salmon;
5And Salmon 10 begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz 11 begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed 12 begat Jesse;
6And Jesse 13 begat David the king; and David 14 the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

Well so far so good…..””17So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations””

7And Solomon 1 begat Roboam; and Roboam 2 begat Abia; and Abia 3 begat Asa;
8And Asa 4 begat Josaphat; and Josaphat 5 begat Joram; and Joram 6 begat Ozias;
9And Ozias 7 begat Joatham; and Joatham 8 begat Achaz; and Achaz 9 begat Ezekias;
10And Ezekias 10 begat Manasses; and Manasses 11 begat Amon; and Amon 12 begat Josias;
11And Josias 13 begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

Oh Oh….Matthew miscounted……he only has 13 generations…”” and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations;””

12And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias 1 begat Salathiel; and Salathiel 2 begat Zorobabel;
13And Zorobabel 3 begat Abiud; and Abiud 4 begat Eliakim; and Eliakim 5 begat Azor;
14And Azor 6 begat Sadoc; and Sadoc 7 begat Achim; and Achim 8 begat Eliud;
15And Eliud 9 begat Eleazar; and Eleazar 10 begat Matthan; and Matthan 11 begat Jacob;
16And Jacob 12 begat Joseph 13 the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus 14, who is called Christ.

Well this time Matthew counts correctly to 14.
I guess an accuracy level of 2 out of 3 times counting to 14 is good enough for Christians.

Why would any one waste their time doing that? Does it really matter?
If I was to waste my time on anything of the sort it would be on my own genealogy, however, I doubt that anyone would be interested in that but me.
Besides, the N.T. genealogis are wrong.
Oh, I almost forgot, the Mormons would be interested I suppose.

As I stated a couple times thus far, I did it primarily as a bit of fun, though I may posted it in the group, and also to show how easy it is to 'create' a false Genealogical Lineage that can and is so often used to merely suit a situation as it arises.

I agree.

@Beowulfsfriend Okay, so I made a mistake in posting that in the wrong place but I was attempting to show how a Genealogy can and ever so often does get 'created' to suit a purpose as per, in my opinion, was precisely done knowingly by the writers of the Goat-Herders Guide to the Galaxy, aka the bible.
Another prime and even more recent example of falsified Genealogies is the British Royal Family who 'claim' they can trace their lineage back to the completely mythological King Arthur, they call themselves the 'House of Windsor' but until the Outbreak of WWI their real name was Sax-Coburg-Gotha, a German name of full German origins which they HASTILY changed due to the rising Anti-German sentiments and because they FEARED that the people would turn against them if they didn't.
Now, do you see just how simple it is to 'create' something believable from mere bullshit?
That is precisely what I intended to do with my original posting.

@Triphid Ironically, many of the "goat hearders" can give their lineage for multiple generations. Jews, Arabs, and Persians from the Mid-East take great pride in "knowing" and reciting theirs. Aside from all the made up and stolen history bullshit, it is possible some of the begetting lists are the one spot with some actual folks doing their herding shit over time. I'm not saying it is so, and an ultra lot of them are made up or have made up stories. Just think of all the people, usually in power, with claims to Muhammad's family.

Tired of reading bullshit about more bullshit, no offense.

Looks like a word salad to me.

Matthew & Luke have differing genealogies.

Yeah I know all about the biblical genealogies, mine was merely an attempt to show that anyone with a modicum of time, effort and imagination CAN do precisely what the writers of the bible did over 1,600+ years ago, i.e. create and INVENT a fake genealogy.

@Triphid Kind of like, 'Lord of the Rings'.

@Atheist3 Precisely. And it got you thinking didn't it?

@Triphid What's 'thinking'?

@Atheist3 Ah now, that is something we Heathen, Heretic, Atheist, Agnostic, Non-Believers actually do without either guidance from a member of the Clergy and completely without realizing that we are doing it as well.
Welcome to Reality to all the Thinkers out there who actually think without being told what to think.

@Triphid So most people are non-thinkers? I think everyone thinks, it's just that some are better critical thinkers than others.

@Atheist3 That may not be quite correct, you have never met my Evangeloon neighbor then have?

@Triphid 😀
