Had to do some workplace decorations ..that was plenty for me. Stopped the tree cutting decades ago, have never regretted it ā¦ Iād much rather plant them, and do!
No cards, either; though still have an assortment of Atheist seasonal greeting cards ..which never went over that well
Looking forward to lengthening daylight and Spring, till then - just another trip around the Sun ..some rest, and more rest
We cut a fresh pine and decorate it with fishing lures. I can't send picts yet because my car is in the shop and the rental has no room for a tree. I should get one next week when I get my vehicle back.
Fishing lures sound really cool, is there a story behind that?
@Surfpirate Hubby and I greatly enjoyed fishing and came up with the idea sitting by the fire on a camping trip. Hooks are built-in (on lures anyway), then you have bobbers, rubber worms, feathered lures... etc. AND you can store your holiday ornaments in a tacklebox! (:
The first couple of years after I moved from my parents house I did but being single it just seemed more sad than helpful. Through the years I just never got into it, I've even stopped doing the card thing. As the secretary on our activity committee here at the apartment complex I got my fix of Christmas giving when the pres and vp of the committee and myself took our fund raising efforts - a nice chunk of change - and bought gifts for the annual Christmas Basket for needy families. This year we had enough to help 2 moms, one with a 6 month little girl and another with an 11 month boy.
We decorate the clubhouse, the tree is not a real one but with all the ornaments and lights it looks really nice. sorry no pics
A job well done.
Yes, we celebrate solstice with tree, gifts, turkey dinner, symphonic music, & the fireplace.
I think of it as helping to drive back the darkness this time of year so yes it is all about the winter solstice for me too.
I was thinking about doing something this year, as not only dark but the fog has sat in the valley so even at noon it is gloomy.
