I wonder how many would report that their financial situation has gotten worse?

It has long been proven that most Americans who are poor or downwardly mobile, esp. white Americans, are embarrassed or in denial about their status. So the answer to your ? is that relatively few would recognize that their financial situation is worse and then be willing to admit it. Most Americans mistakenly overestimate their class status when it comes to economic class.

That's because all the wealth and economic gains in this economy go to the top 10%, esp. the top 1%.
