If this is true then conservatives are going after him. That seems interesting.

No, CT is a centrist Christian rag. The extremes that constitute Trump's base do not generally read this magazine according to its editor in chief. So this article probably will not change minds. They are too invested in Trump to turn back now.

One talking head does see it as the first crack in the Trump facade. But most of the far right Evangelical ministers are already circling the wagons and lambasting and condemning CT magazine.

Do you think Evangelicals care at all that Trump used heaven and hell technically in his speech, that it bothers them in any way? That's how they brainwashed everyone else to keep their fort going!!!!

The Graham family still supports trump. I believe the definition of a whore is someone who will do something they know is morally wrong for something of perceived value. Evangelicals get their religious rights and vote for trump. They are whores.

@rogueflyer prostitutes for business, to stay in business, you're right 👍

My Graham family does not support Trump.

I like to use the word whore now and then. But my definition is it's a person who loves sex, does it a lot, and isn't ashamed of it. Most of the True Believers I know try to hide their whorishness, or else they are ascetics. As for m'self, I'm an ethical slut.

I see an overall picture of his base slowly deteriorating. Some of the Trumpers I know have now gotten very quiet.

@mischl they're going nowhere slowly. His supporters have the same rotten egg mentality from the countries their forefathers came from. They have an inferior complex and see Trump as "their savior". Trump is inferior himself. He's an example where a bank balance doesn't make a difference! It hasn't bought him class.

@TimeOutForMe Hello. And I'm pleased to meet you. I've not heard much about how widespread the disease of religiosity is in South Africa. I can only imagine. Here in Florida, we have little pockets of emancipated people here and there. However, affiliation with religious organization is waning, very slowly. Some estimates are from 22% ten years ago to about 24% now. I, for one, am very happy that we have this website to communicate and discuss the epidemic that continues all around us. I appreciate and support my fellow atheists and agnostics.

@mischl religion is also huge in South Africa. The secular society in Johannesburg are trying to work with govt to root out religion in schools.

@mischl but we're free to announce we're Atheist. We don't really care about backlash from any religious denomination. I think most school kids are getting the gist that religion is a farce and not for them. Science and evolution topics are becoming a way of life for them. Oh and I've been to Florida twice. Lovely State.

@TimeOutForMe That's good to hear. It sounds like you may have a more enlightened environment than many of our southern states. I tried for 25 years to move to Florida (from Virginia) but I never could find a job. Finally, I took the leap after I retired. The weather and the beachy aspect of Fort Myers suits me just fine--especially the 120+ km. of bike paths.

@mischl I think so too. One of the women in our local telegram group (there are many telegram groups) is from South Carolina. ...so I know it's a well known bible belt territory 😅

@TimeOutForMe What ?? is a telegram group?

@mischl that's how we communicate here. It's like whatsapp with no phone numbers and you can go by any name and be from anywhere part of the world. You can also message individual people like on here.

@TimeOutForMe So there's a software named "telegram?" Because I talk to people in several parts of the world, I use Messenger, Whatsapp, Viber, and Threema. The last of those is (I believe) the most secure.

@mischl whatsapp and viber I use for personal day to day. Telegram you really don't know the person or face, it's optional like on here, no telephone number, you can post, chat etc and there's admin people to control if need be.

@mischl it's an app like whatsapp and viber but you can form groups....but like I say in total secrecy wrt names, area, can post anything and no phone numbers. There are quite a few muslims and Jews on our Gauteng group too from Canada and Iran and Johannesburg. All Atheists so really interesting and we're like family too. We reach out.

@mischl this is the icon

@TimeOutForMe I spent some time reading up on Telegram. I'm no expert, but it sounds like a very secure system. I also spent a lot of time reading & trying to understand Threema (which was written and is maintained by a Swiss company in compliance with Swiss privacy laws, said to be the toughest in the world). I have only three correspondents who use it. But I like it. The protocol seems to be absolutely impenetrable.

@mischl you need to stick to what works for you😊

@mischl what's nice about telegram, is that people can view your profile pic and you theirs without the other knowing. It's that cool.

Nothing will come of it. They'll just denounce the writer.

Don't get your hopes up.
Galli announced his retirement in October, he's out at the end of the year.
All the evangelical "leaders" lined up behind Franklin Graham earlier today.
They're all still supporting 45.

There may be a few who are starting to see 45 for who he really is, but
don't count on any sort of mass exodus.
Most of them still think 45 is a "christian" and believes in all the same shit
they do.
They love that he's appointed so many conservative judges, FOR LIFE.
They love that their forced-birth agenda has gained traction.

Yeah, don't expect that much of his evangelical "base" is going to desert him.

@KKGator... Yip they have each other's back.

@KKGator...same way church and state rolled hand-in-hand in South Africa to keep it all for themselves, to the disadvantage of an entire nation.

1

It is true. Several people have posted about this, with links to the piece. I think it remains to be seen what if any effect this has on evangelicals.

@bingst... Yip true, they'll keep him in to continue their glorified theft from the nation's flock who still believe in faith and hell.

I've seen many xtion pro tRump shit evangelical we didnt vote him for his (place fancy words for ethical or moral behavior here b.s).

Only the ones capable of logical, independent thinking
Makes for a small minority— but it’s a start I guess
