I know it’s the holidays and everyone should be happy for each other but my work has pissed me off... yet again. We are not allowed to get vacations unless we’ve been here for a year (I started in July) & we are very short handed at the moment bc one of our workers is in the hospital for a suicide attempt and the other one quit. BUT they could still give one of the managers nieces a vacation because they’re spending their family vacation in a fancy cabin for a week & since she’s her niece, the rules don’t apply. She is sweet and I like her but she misses & doesn’t call all the time which is also 10 points. Never gets them. Probably doesn’t have any points at all & now I get to work full shifts all week to take care of her time off. Then they scheduled me off on Christmas and her on when she’s not even supposed to be back. So instead of me getting the time and half that I earned and I need to catch up my car payment and pay for my membership and insurance that I have to have before starting my internship January 13th, she’ll get it.. I know I should be happy that I get to spend Christmas with my family but I really needed this money & I now, probably won’t get New Years off which isn’t that big of a deal except my ex/best friend passed on New Years of 2018 & I know I’m going to be crying all day & not allowed to go home..

I’m sorry for the rant. Just knew you all would understand the bs.

I suspect that you are not the only one in the West this Christmas whose overblown sense of privilege will be challenged.

There are millions out there without work that would love to work a flat week not concerning themselves with time and a half,

Perhaps consider yourself fortunate and thankful that you have a job to complain about!

@1EarthLovingGal Fair enough

I don’t understand why every one should be happy for each other because it’s a holiday, whatever that means.

Either be happy for each other all the time or rejoice in another’s downfall, which is the default position of humanity, at Christmas as well as any other.

The peace and goodwill nonsense is supposed to last how many days? Is it until the Magi arrive (according to Matthew) or when the last piece of Christmas turkey curry has been consumed.

Other than that, how are you doing? 🙂

@1EarthLovingGal Anxiety is not fun. When I have had it, it can be such an overwhelmingly uncomfortable feeling. So don't apologize. Research it and find which way of controlling it might work for you. I haven't really found one. 🙂

My, my, my, life is a struggle. Is this a major roadblock to you excelling in your aspirations? Circumstances can be a drag but don't let them drag you down.

It's ok sweetheart I know this time of year is very hard for most people. This time of year has the highest rate of suicide outside of Valentines day....
