I love how inventive humans are. They have a story for every occasion. Its really remarkable. From Wizards in make believe schools to Gods born in very humble settings...we created them all.
We needed a way out of the dark so we created Christmas. We are truly amazing.
So merry whatever the f**k gets you through the day...we love you
Sure, Iām pretty glad the human sacrifices are less socially acceptable now long live the imagination, it gives us hypotheses to test and learn from
@Gwendolyn2018 a bit different to wanting to have your heart cut out so that the sun rises, or your body thrown into building foundations for the good of the occupants, but yes, I see your point.
No priests and complicated belief system needed these days then, just a sense of righteous privilege or impotent apathy
I do something about that particular issue myself, perhaps will start doing more again, time will tell. Itās the feeling that others donāt that stops me sometimes, hence my post, a few days back, about letting others know your good deeds.
@Gwendolyn2018 yes, weāll have to agree to disagree, I know no small number of people who spent their lives trying to help others.
Yes, the Le Guin story is not one you ever forget is it? But I still think that many people that are enabling the problems do so because they are too far removed. My own father claims to be convinced that there is no real poverty in the uk; while I remember him grilling my uncle about how he must have known about the concentration camp near his home town in Germany, which he didnāt apparently.
Yes, thereās often a power play in abuse situations, but there are many other factors too, as Iām sure youāre aware.
The disabled, Gypsies and many other groups were also murdered by the Nazis, and continue to be persecuted to various extents.
But weāve gone of topic of imagination I fear, into the more miserable realm of human cruelty
Yes.
We needed ..I suppose.. an answer as to why the days were getting shorter ..and the nights longerā¦ But by the time weād figured it out, there were a shitload of myths to āexplain it.ā Seems the christerās stole it from the pagans. Time to take it back?
I think we did by realising about the sun and earthās seasonal orbit although we donāt seem to have quite compensated for the calendar being a tad off, less snow at Christmas and more at Easter now.
Yeah I do love science fiction too. My favorite genre.
Well, at least fiction, don't know how much science there is in these stories.
Sometimes we are too inventive, and we create things that are too real.
