If religious people 100% believed their doctrines, would they have any fear of death?

Yes, uncertainty corrodes belief and dogma.

Of course. No one can claim that they never sinned. So Christians are afraid of going to hell. Terrorist Muslims often have a desolate life, so going to 1,000 virgins is far better than life on earth.

They'd likely be suicidal.
Take suicide bombers dying for their shit hole gods.
They wouldn't think twice.

We cling to our lives in fear of death, yet proclaim salvation upon its arrival. Yes, I believe most people of the Christian faith would still fear death.

If they thought they had been naughty instead of nice?

Yes, if they are not sure they have been good enough.

anyone that is 100% sure of any belief system is a fanatic and should be avoided at all costs...I am 100%...sure...of....uh oh...

Exactly 🙂

God hates religion as much as we do, any number of passages could be Quoted for this

But we exist.

@Leafhead i'd like to suggest that the Bible as a collection of mythologies that capsulate Man's Collected Wisdom does also, regardless of one's opinion about a literal God, which i gotta agree can be detrimental too. My point up there was that even the Bible condemns religion, yet we allow our symbolism of the Bible to be interpreted for us by the religious; or "the blind" in Bible speak.

Yes indeed, because to meet the demands of a jealous Gawd, they could never have any impure thoughts, covet anything, etc etc etc

How Orwellian indeed. Thought crimes yet.

I've wondered that also and my though is I don't really think modern day religious people are really religious it's a weird mindframe to unravel because they don't act as of they REALLY believe in God? Follow ever command to the letter, act is if ever thought and action was being watched and most of them are sceptical to a degree about supernatural occurrences unless they feel like enough people believe In it.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. Try this experiment: tell any Xian you just saw God, Jesus and/or a roomful of angels and gauge the reaction. Chances are, you'll be at Employee Health pissing in a cup!

@Leafhead lool RS

That kind of reminds me of a speaker I heard at a McChurch. "If you really believed in Jesus, you would go door to door telling people the good news..."

She was trying to exhort everyone to evangelize. But, ironically, she just answered her own question.

Do, do they really deep down believe? Of course not. Their actions would be completely different otherwise.

"If you really believed in Jesus, you would go door to door telling people the good news..."

there are even verses condemning this practice

Haha, good question... I believe they fear death, because they fear god. Fear is the keyword.

Religion is for those afraid of hell. Spirituality is for those who have been there 🙂

No, in fact, they should be doing there best to die really.

3

Some don't fear death. They will proudly die serving the crazy Idea that they'll get everything in heaven.

I wish they'd leave alone and take nobody with them.

They really don't believe. If they believed they would spend more time studying the Bible carefully everyday to discover all they could about God.

1

I would think they absolutely would because they can not be absolutely certain that they will pass the judgement test and will be sent to hell.

2

That's why they added the hell clause

1

I think it's the biggest reason they believe in any of that bullshit. They fear death and want
to believe in an afterlife.

BINGO!
It's as if one day the Human brain got too smart for its own good and discovered its own mortality.
Afterlife provided a great workaround for our still young Human minds to keep them sane and pacified in the face of this, um, grave realization.

@Leafhead It's a damned shame that so many people still "need" to believe in that garbage.

@KKGator
Especially in the face of scientific evidence shredding their little baby blankies, and the lack of evidence living beyond the grave

2

This is kind of a trick question because the purpose of religion is to instil fear in believers and then control their lives.
