Beware American people. Your President is praising containment measures by the Chinese, an authoritarian government.
So expect the same treatment soon when an "outbreak" occurs. Containment in the name of your security and safety of course. New laws for the military to deal with the "crisis". And like laws to deal with "terrorism", they will remain long after the crisis has gone.
Geeze I miss the 70's. No-one would tolerate todays governments.

I agree with the Chinese measures to contain this. Any responsible government would do the same I believe.

To avoid a pandemic, I don't see any other sure alternative. It would be nice to not suspend travel, the medium which the virus travels.
Study the pandemic of the early 1900's to see how many died.
We don't even know what it fully is yet. Today, snakes were suspected of the initial transmission.
Where did they get it?
Washington State got the first case. That's my state.
So, if this transmits to another species of animal in the USA, it will be impossible to stop. And that has happened before.
We could loose 100 million people easily. The health care system is already broken.
