I went to a job interview and the lady that interviewed me said that they were very close and all had Christian values. Just what did she mean by that?

The term “Christian Values” is all inclusive and suggest that those who do not hold them do not have morality. It can not be defined conclusively as all Christians do not have the same values or morality.

It is used in the colloquial sense to mean “ We are good people that are moral upstanding citizens”.

If one does not subscribe to Christianity it suggest that that person has no moral values at all at a subconscious level as Christians believe their morals come from their religion.

If someone says they have “Christian values” are you going to say “No I don’t believe in that.” It would make you look like an immoral asshole.

The sad thing is Christians steal, cheat, lie etc like anyone else. So what sets “Christian Values” apart from any other morality?

The problem is if “Christian Values” does mean basically trying to be a good person, then everyone believes they have “Christian Values”.
It leaves us in the position of looking like we as atheist and agnostics not only reject their god but the morality that they associate with their god.

I would have said
"Oh you advocate slavery, believe in corporal and capital punishment and hate your family, just like Jesus and st.Paul told you too, how nice for you."

I didn't do that and got the job!

@DavidLaDeau congrats

That means they screw people over Monday- Saturday but go to church on Sunday, so it's all good.

You can have Christian values without “being” a Christian. Most of the Christian teachings in the Bible are worthy of consideration. Especially astute is the declaration that love is the greatest commandment. Love can not be commanded, but if you feel love for everyone (even DT) your behavior will be exemplary and no other commandments will be needed.

Some people who proclaim themselves to be Christians and church members do so for ego reasons. Though they are currently shallow and unreliable, they are still worthy of respect as fellow humans. They can be likable—maybe someday they’ll grow. One purpose for churches is to help such people grow.

Holding negative, judgmental, untrue opinions about people is only harmful to oneself.

Does “Christian values” mean love they neighbor? Feed the hungry? Judge not lest he be judged? Or does it mean being a holier than thou asshole who thinks they have the right to tell other people what they can do with their lives and bodies?

These days Christian values is a term synonymous with right wing, moralistic, family-fantasy oriented, social and sexual diversity intolerant, wealth-gospel biased and money-success assumptions, that have nothing to do with even the fiction and fantasy of the Christian religion. Frankly, I loathe the term. It's one of those terms that makes my biologicals spike, were I attached to a electronic monitor.

So what happened in the interview? Was she wearing a skirt or pants? Forgive me but God is the least interesting part to me.

If she was wearing pant according to the babble she should be taken out and stoned to death

Deuteronomy 22:5, "A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God."

@LenHazell53 You sound so unkind in the modern times. Cut her some slack. This is the time for their independence.

@St-Sinner Simply pointing out the hypocrisy of advocating Christian values (or at least a sanitised version of them) while breaking the law and the prophets, rules Christ himself would never pass away

Empty & hypocritical in my books. Why isn't ''values'' good enough?
