I have a weird opinion and that one deals with economies. Already global markets are feeling the pinch with more borders being closed. Even our own stock market has taken some big hits. Actually, this is a good thing as it is one way for people to wake up to how the stupidity of dictators (Xi Jingping - who downplayed the seriousness of the disease and even had the doctors that spread the initial warnings arrested) including our very own tRump who is in total denial of everything outside his own understanding (meaning everything). We need a hit on our economy to get rid of our screwball wannabe dictator.

Apparently it's the type of virus which mutates and spreads easily. It can also cause severe illness. With plane travel so widespread, I can understand the concern. I have a friend in Thailand now. I'm just a little concerned for his safety.

It's a strange one. Very highly contagious, and causes pretty severe disease (skips the nose/throat symptoms and goes pretty much from fever to pneumonia), yet with "only" a 2% mortality rate. It might wreak havoc in naive high risk populstions though.

Sure demonstrates how poorly we seem to be able to control such things.

No one knows. The butterfly flaps its wings and a minor illness turns into the great plague, another flap and what looked like a great plague just fades away. The world is ruled by chance, much more than anyone likes to think, because we all like to look for patterns, we are pattern seeking animals that is how our brains are hard wired. But most of our observed patterns are just delusions, every bit as much as religion.

I've watched "I am Legend" and "The Walking Dead". And it got me thinking "I should get ready for this virus, especially if it gets out of hand.
