Great Lady:

"In spite of the truly marvelous inventiveness of the human brain, we are beginning to wonder whether our power to change the face of nature should not have been tempered with wisdom for our own good, and with a greater sense of responsibility for the welfare of generations to come."

First Nations people had it covered when they said think seven generations ahead

@btroje I see the US's current environmental position challenging. It pits the needs of an expanding population against limited environmental resources. I think science's projections are pretty good to say 50 years out, but beyond that...maybe there is another rational. The current political climate will change but harm will have already been done, in my opinion.

I live in South East Florida, where 80% of the people live within 20 miles of the ocean, so there is a lot of empty land, mostly used for agriculture. Florida has great growing weather. The county I live in has around $1 billion in agriculture sales annually.

A few weeks ago I went out to the edge of the Everglades, the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. Great Spanish moss saturated, wet-land forest views from my location. It was a beautiful clear day.

I want others to be able to walk along on these carefully stilted trails and see alligators patiently waiting among the water lilies.

I would like to see us perserve such resources continually because we realize that it is for others and not just our self.
