Do you think it’s possible to have a life partner if she is Christian and you are an Atheist??

I have to say no ; but 10 years ago it would have seemed possible. The social expectations would be more of a hurdle
today-there is outside PRESSURES. Also ,I not only became
strongly committed to Atheism- I'm 60- I prioritize this
factor as critical to future commitments.

I agree with some of the other commenters that as long as you can be adults and respect each others' points of view without needing to convert the other person, it can work.

But what about when you throw kids in the mix? I'm curious if other people have experience (personally or observed) of religous-athiest couples raising children? How did they make it work, if they did?

I dated a woman who was a theology major at a Catholic university. We're both adults, arguments were fun, didn't become fights.

Nope in my case. I was married to a mormon for 31 years, then suddenly my out-laws determined I was a satan worshiper, and ran me off with a shotgun! It was nearly death do we part!

Some people may be able to live happily in that situation, but I know that I could not.

As with every issue, it depends upon how flexible and tolerant the people involved can be and to what degree they prioritize filial harmony over winning an argument. There is no pat answer to this question.

I lived for 12-years with a Catholic who was born and raised Fundamentalist. We just agreed her religion would be practiced w/o me. Simple. If she needed to go to church, or her nail appointment, I didn't need to be involved or hear about it. She didn't bring it home and it was a subject we didn't need to debate... same with my agnosticism. I was raised Catholic, so I wasn't ignorant. Yes, And Atheist and Christian CAN live together in harmony, but they need to have mutual respect and an agreement to do so and stick with it.

It really depends, on how tolerant and open-minded each of you are as well as how extreme or passionate each of you are in your respective beliefs or lack of. Each pair of individuals is different.
