While trump is trying to tell everyone NOT to worry . . . . . .
Washington State Is Investigating Potential Outbreak at Facility
Drew Armstrong
(Bloomberg) -- Washington State officials are investigating a potential outbreak of coronavirus at a health facility that cares for elderly, vulnerable patients, after two people at the facility were infected.
Two people at a LifeCare nursing facility in Kirkland, Washington, were diagnosed with the virus, health officials there said Saturday. One is a health-care worker in her 40s, and is in satisfactory condition at a local hospital. The other is an female resident of the facility in her 70s, and is in serious condition at the same hospital, local health authorities said.
In addition, more than 50 residents and staff at the facility have shown symptoms of a respiratory illness, according to Jeff Duchin, health officer for public health in Seattle and King County. Tests of the residents are ongoing.
“We are very concerned about an outbreak in a setting where there are many older people,” Duchin said on a call with reporters Saturday. “We’re going to send a team into the facility tomorrow to do an assessment.”
About half of the people with symptoms are residents, and half are staff.
Additional cases are expected from the facility, said the local and state health department in a statement. Kirkland is located just outside Seattle.
The potential outbreak is the latest worrying sign that the coronavirus may be circulating more widely than previously known in some parts of the country.
Earlier Saturday, Washington State reported the first U.S. death from the virus, a man in his 50s with underlying health conditions. Governor Jay Inslee has issued an emergency proclamation in Washington to coordinate the response to the coronavirus.
Health officials have said that that a lack of testing has probably meant that cases haven’t been identified, or identified as early as they might have been otherwise.
“If we had the ability to test earlier, I’m sure we would have identified more patients earlier,” Duchin said on the call with reporters.

Typically Rrrruussshhah dingy Crazy GREEDY LIMPboss radio cult liar dittohead calls it all a conspiracy to defeat his beloved TrumpOLINI by "political weaponizing a cold or flu virus that only kills one % of infected people " and this insane deaf jerk is dying of lung cancer with zero empathy for other breathing animal life

Well said. 🙂

The recent Seattle Times was mostly about the virus and all it's repercussions. Not looking good. Seems like the built up areas will start to envy us island dwellers with our large, open spaces.

Can I come visit for a spell?

@silverotter11 You should know, you are welcome anytime.

Funny that when DT talked about the death, he identified the wrong patient, he got confused with a woman who was diagnosed but didn't die, on friday (the person who died on saturday was a male in his 50s). The state of WA had to back peddle on their public health press releases to avoid contradictory info. Good work Pence. Ugh.

You shouldn't listen to trump.. he's an idiot

At this point, anyone who believes anything he says is suffering from severe brain blockage! 😂😂

Trump is a moron and afraid of his lack of preparation will catch up to him and cost him the election, he operates on smoke and mirrors

I've been watching this closely, as I'm traveling to King County and Snohomish County next week. First death linked to covid-19 in the U.S. Yikes!

Possibly many more cases not identified for lack of test kits previously and symptoms mimicking the ordinary flu.

I've just recovered from a mystery illness, I contracted while traveling internationally, just as the coronavirus was starting to spread outside China. I am very much not wanting to get so much as a cold while my immune system is already challenged, let alone this.

Please be careful

Be careful, wash your hands and don't touch your face.

@silverotter11 face palming in our society of liars and rapists is almost an automatic reaction to fake news and TrumpOLINI.....shaking our heads in disgusted disagreements causes concussions..... it's like a perfect storm of unhealthy conditions forcing us all like lemmings to the cliffs by the sea.... so I shout and display bumper stickers wherever I go : " think safety don't believe miracles" = Atheism

I scares the shit out of me that a stupid, arrogant, childish psychopath has turned our federal government over to an international crime syndicate posing as an Evangelical Church.

We will have a doubly whammy as this will not only effect the health systems but the economics as well. Be thankful he is not starting a 2nd term.
Obama once said the Republicans drove the car into the ditch and the Democrats pulled it out and fixed it. Now the Republicans are driving it again. This time it's won't be just a ditch but a cliff. Why do we not learn?

Everything's fine...

But,,,,,I'm not dead yet, ,,,,,really!

LMAO!! Yes, black humor may save us all!

You don’t have to go back to the Middle Ages to find pandemics. There was a major world wide flu pandemic in 1918 that killed 100 of thousands. Right at the end of WW I.

@Barnie2years yes, I know. Didn't kill off everyone then, either. Just no clips available to post mockingly.

The latest panic seems to have a fatality rate of under 5%. It's more misunderstood at this point than anything else.

As in bloomberg,mike?..

I've never known Bloomberg News to be inaccurate.

Bloomberg News

He owns it, yes. And lots of other media outlets. That's where he made his money

Very close to you SilverOtter. Close enough to me. How did it get into the facilty? I think that within two weeks it is likely to be totally out of control and we'll mostly been getting a dose of flu with maybe 5% or less dying.

Current mortality is running about less than two percent. But this is very early and there are no shortages to deal with yet. So your estimate might be a bit low. But people our age will be hit hard. And the young. I'm hiding in the woods with the bears and coyotes.

Yes, it is very close - 106 miles or so via I-90 and I-405 N. Well, no one seems to know how it got into the facility. I think there are many more instances of people with the virus who showed no systems coming to the U.S from China before China informed the world just what was happening. Just as I don't trust our government I don't trust China.

@silverotter11 Do we even know the gestation period now? It could have been no fault of China that this was spreading fast before it was recognised. The implication is that it could be as long as two weeks. I suspect that by mid march it will be occurring everywhere. By mid to late april I'd guess it will be largely over.

[bbc.com] the dr who first alerted the chinese govt about the new disease

@rogerbenham I think China had some idea once people starting becoming ill, yes the incubation period really is not known and I am sure there were people infected, showing NO symtoms that moved out around the world either to visit, return home, go to school, etc. Sadly America is following the same early denial as China - IMHO. Since no gets out alive is it all that improtant. Just try and live, love and enjoy the time we have 🙂.

@silverotter11 I agree. I hope that I am sufficiently healthy to survive this and my friends are as well. I don't feel frail yet! But I'm not going to blame China though sick people working with sick animals we know to be the cause of some of the nastier flu's.

@JuniorMadame So at least 12 days before he started coughing and a month before diagnosis. A week before his death. He was young. I'm suspecting 2 weeks quarantine may not be enough. We'll see.

@rogerbenham I'm not blaming China, it simply appears to be the source for this. That said as Jack pointed out over population is a huge problem and only adds to the mess.
you may be correct, 2 weeks quarantine may not be good enough.
