I was just reading about Douglas Adams on Wikipedia, and found this interesting in light of some of the discussions that take place here:
Adams described himself as a "radical atheist", adding "radical" for emphasis so he would not be asked if he meant agnostic. He told American Atheists that this conveyed the fact that he really meant it.
In memory of the late Terry Jones, I've been enjoying Monty Python's Flying Circus again, and just now discovered that Adams was actually involved in the very last episode.
Would seem rather too extreme an adjective to use and too close to connotations of another “R”:word...namely, rabid! It certainly would remove any doubt from anyone’s mind, that Adams was on the agnostic end of the atheist spectrum!
