Is it irresponsible to travel now for non critical uses?
Isn't that spreading the virus?

It depends on how that travel is done. Travel of itself covers all journeys ranging from visiting a neighbour next door to visiting friends on the other side of the world. I would be far more concerned about the number of people contacted in any Covid-19 hot spot than anything else. I am at the moment living in what appears to be a Covid-19 clear zone.

I'm more worried about the economic impact than the virus at this point.
I live in Washington State. Schools are closed. Non essential business is closed.
This was a sunny day on the Ocean shore, but there was no one here. Usually there are thousands on a weekend like this. We may be screwed from the effect, not the virus.

@PondartIncbendog I see what you mean. This part of the Land of the Convict has yet to be put under such restrictions.

@anglophone The authorities are now saying be prepared for three months. Americans aren't prepared for three weeks. I'm spending all my money on powdered milk, propane and power related items. We don't know if the power will stay on. If there are enough people that aren't sick to handle the load. Thursday night late was the last time I go to the grocery store. I can go about two months, I have a pond in my back yard and enough food for the dogs and cats in storage. I hope I thought of everything.

@PondartIncbendog Yikes! I live on a rural block. I would expect to survive without any real issues for two months. I hope it does not come to that for you.

@anglophone We are there now. There are cases at the local hospital. They are asking us not to come to the hospital unless we are critical. The only hardware store has lay off three quarters of the store. We are in trouble.

@anglophone Do you know how to clean a goose? We have thousands of them here on the coast. Just kidding. I can't kill to save my life. I can however fish and I will do it illegally if I have to. We also have lots of deer. I hope no one gets any ideas. I'm waiting for the sound of shots though.

If the travel does not put you in contact with others or places that others also visit (where contaminated surfaces might spread this virus), I don't see the harm in it. My mom recently got told off for walking her dog aloe, in an isolated area (ironically, by the same person who publicly mocked her for self isolating following possible exposure, you know, the hoax and all). I was thinking camping, fishing, hiking might be a nice way to get out and enjoy some fresh air. If I don't interact with anyone, or contact shared surfaces, I see no danger. I can easily spend days in nature without interacting with anyone.

@Zster Exactly. By the way, you paint wonderful pictures with your words.
