What to do:
Make sure your friends and neighbors have what they need: food, shelter, water, and t.p.. Do NOT make them ask for help.
If you need help, do not be afraid to tell a friend. Tell those of us here. We are all over the place; someone is surely near enough to help you.
My neighbours are odd and kooky and some involved in criminal activities. I engage them on a limited basis, aka they start a convo with me in the elevator or laundry room and I reply courteously. I already have crazy family to deal with, no energy for crazy neighbours as well. sorry, self-care first
Linda took a small bouquet of flowers from our garden to each of our neighbors today. Great way to stop in and say; "call us if you need anything".
@MissKathleen
File on time. But you've got an extra 90 days to pay up.
Good advice but you didn't list "DON'T PANIC!" in nice friendly letters.
I get what you’re saying, but telling someone to not panic is the same as telling someone to calm down. It really doesn’t work. That’s why I like this idea ... it’s not telling people what to do but rather offering a way that will actually HELP people to calm down ... ya know?
A timely reminder...we have to look out for each other!
@MissKathleen Yes..indeed we do.
Love this. Yes, people would be too embarrassed to ask a neighbor for help in most cases. So we should proactively offer. Such a great suggestion.
I just got a note through my door from a younger neighbour earlier today asking me to text her if I need anything brought from the shops...I really appreciate that, and have texted her my thanks for her thoughfulness.
