In a new book, Professor of human development at Northwestern U. Dr. Dan P. McAdams states that Trump is a "genuine fake", more of a persona than a person -- someone trying to portray himself as a person that he is not. He says that the whole theme of Trump's behavior is redemption: He knows that he has never said or done anything of genuine value, and he is trying to redeem himself by lying his way out of that fact.
His book is entitled THE STRANGE CASE OF DONALD TRUMP: A PSYCHOLOGICAL RECKONING. It is published by Oxford University Press.

Certain appointments are classic smoke and mirrors
resulting in unqualified and seemingly lucrative postings
that amount to graft. The fact that he refutes science
is telling and scary at the same time. You don't shoot messengers - but the message has to be dealt with-;
when caught in a lie ~ he weaves a fantasia of distraction
to muddle the original facts & situation.
