I love living with another introvert, lol. I recently moved in with my best friend for awhile and she lets me be, doesn't talk my ear off and I'm able to spends hours alone in my room to read and watch many dinosaur documentaries in peace haha, although I don't mind extroverts in the right settings. If you're an introvert like me, have you ever lived with an extrovert? If so, did it work out well?
Yes, while I was at university and it was exhausting.
My late partner was a super-extrovert. We were on the same page on everything else so our differences in personalities actually was a great balance. We both learned a lot from this. Now I am living in an extroverted island community and trying to fit in. Now, with our social distancing policy, things are much easier for me.
Iām an extrovert and so was my husband...can you imagine that level of exuberance...life was never dull! Since he died Iāve lived on my own quite happily by choice, I cannot imagine living again with anyone, either introvert or extrovert, my cats are all the company I need now. In this present Covid19 confinement, I am missing being able to socialise outside of my home, singing with my choir and meeting friends, but am perfectly content staying at home, knowing that this is only a temporary measure.
I think it is a very simplistic and inherently inaccurate way of dividing people. Eg extroversion/introversion exists on a spectrum and it doesn't necessarily mean exhibitionistic, talkative or overly active which is what you may be thinking of. The whole myers briggs division (eg.INFJ) suffers the same problem and is poorly supported by independent research. It divides on a black/white basis in that the difference between E and I might be 49% to 51% but it is treated the same as 1% vs 99% and yet people are being promoted or employed based on that bullshit
I agree with your statements about Myers-Briggs and lack of scientific data. I personally don't need a study to tell me what sort of people to avoid, but I do know that extroverted types of people sap way too much energy from me when I am around them.
@AstralSmoke I do get what you mean. Some people can be loud and exhausting, especially if they drag you with them. One reason I'm a bit skeptical of the whole introversion/extroversion division though is because I have seen several people go from one end of the spectrum to the other through life experience.
@Cyklone Even in the course of an evening! I can show signs of an extrovert personality, but it really saps the energy out of me. Nothing is black and white.
@AstralSmoke "nothing is black and white". That's my theme song, along with "there is no right or wrong or good and bad".
@Cyklone There are some really good black and white films!
@AstralSmoke ahh, but they are not really black and white but many shades of grey.
Iām an introvert, and INFJ. My preference in any kind of relationship process is another introvert.
