this is your post number 314 or so, on the topic of insurance and you consistently show you don't actually know how the system here works. it isnt agood or fair system, but whatever the reason that you obsess over the American health care system, you need to get better information and use your brain cells.

its obvious the actions of the urgent care have nothing to do with insurance in this case. but you take the word of a tabloid instead. i understand your ignorance prior to starting to examine the health care system here, because you "learn" from tabloid junk news on facebook, but i don't understand why you don't try to expand your knowledge base.

the only way insurance was involved here was possibly that the person who died, possibly delayed care due to fears about the bills he would get. terrible, yes. do i think that it would be better if he was forced to pay for insurance through the govt (MFA or similar) rather than having a choice about having insurance or not, depending on his own personal choices? yes. do i think the urgent care was in any way involved in his coverage, his choices, or his death? no

@ToolGuy you have every right to post, no matter how useless. yes maybe someone will get something out of your posts, though you routinely include so much incomplete or untrue info that i really think it is a disservice . congrats on not using an actual FB link this time tho

@ToolGuy btw there's an article on CNN about how the public health office is investigating because the information being reported isnt correct. The towns mayor is grandstanding and making speeches about medical info he couldn't possibly know, and repeating stories about events that he wasnt present for. Apparently his main info source was the kids dad (also not there, and also likely the one who chose to keep his kids from being insured?even with virtually guaranteed free coverage for kids in CA). The whole thing is a play for fleeting fame and victim status, when the whole nation is dealing with a serious public health crisis. This case sure does show the worst in people.

I too have been turned away from Urgent Care, (not recently) they gave me a note that said "Go the the Emergeny Room NOW" as they felt things were dire...they were wrong, luckily, but it was the right thing to do, and Nothing to do with insurance at all.

@ToolGuy urgent care around here only takes xrays, sets bones, writes Rx's...nothing invasive like IV at all! Nobody in real distress would go there! They will call you an ambulance, butif you have transportation, tell you it is faster to just Go!

  • ...The staff at the urgent care facility told the teen to try the emergency room at Antelope Valley (AV) Hospital, a public hospital in the area, according to the mayor.

  • "En route to AV Hospital, he went into cardiac arrest, when he got to AV hospital they were able to revive him and keep him alive for about six hours,” Parris said. “But by the time he got there, it was too late.”

There's so much more here than a lack of insurance that killed him. Urgent care units don't have nearly the capabilities that a hospital does - all the urgent care unit even could have done is send him to the ER - which would have required he wait for an ambulance to arrive to transport him.

But oh no, gotta hit that one note canard of insurance - you know, while ignoring that he was treated at the hospital, the place he should have gone to begin with.

Is this fucked up? Yes. Is this as simple as lack of insurance? Fuck no.
