Today's Travel Destination: Salar du Uyuni, Bolivia
The World's Largest Mirror

Fun Facts:
The world's largest salt flat. 10,582 square kilometers.

Although desert, this area is home to pink flamingos, ancient cacti, and rare hummingbirds, to name a few.

During the wet season, which is roughly from November to April, the salt desert is transformed into an enormous salt lake, albeit one that is only six to twenty inches deep, traversable by both boat and truck. During this time, the shallow salt lake perfectly mirrors the sky, creating bizarre illusions of infinity.

In the middle of this seemingly infinite salty lake is a hotel built entirely out of—salt.

I just started getting your Travel advisories, but so far the theme is "Places I think I'll Skip" ...

@SeaGreenEyez There may come a time when I'm in the mood for desolate inhospitable terrain, especially if there are no active virii there.

@SeaGreenEyez Exactly ... Occasionally we just have to change perspective.

@SeaGreenEyez I would love to see those rare hummingbirds and photograph reflected double image clouds....i have never been south of Nogales Tijuana or Juarez

@SeaGreenEyez if the brine shrimp are good for flamingos there must be a gumbo chef nearby with okra pearl onions tomato bisque and cajun spice fresh from beautiful waters
