For those NOT REQUIRED TO FILE TAXES, or those assisting people that aren't required to file taxes, the website is up and working, for you to enter the information needed to receive stimulus monies.

As I mentioned previously, it is not a requirement to have filed, will be filing, or needing to file a "short form" return.

This site is to enter payment information to receive the monies. I highly recommend direct deposit. If someone doesn't have a bank account, a pre-paid refillable debit card will work. It may be up to 5 months for paper checks.

Done, and got the email notifying me that the IRS accepted it.

@SeaGreenEyez Yes, especially since I'll be getting an actual check.

Thanks. I didn't see any info on this issue after the IRS updated their website stating that Social Security beneficiaries wouldn't need to file a simple form. I had heard that TurboTax would be offering it (which I posted about), and I see that the third-party site the IRS links to sets cookies from Intuit (which owns TurboTax).

This only applies to those who the government does not have an address or deposit information for. That would obviously would not include Social Security recipients. I confirmed this by visiting the site.

@mcgeo52 I know that, but initially it said those recipients and others who usually don't have to file a return -would- have to file a simple return. There was a big ruckus about SS recipients having to file anything, then a statement on the site saying those folks wouldn't have to file, but info for "others" was also removed.

@SeaGreenEyez, from what I have heard the ones you just signed up may be in a later batch.

Thanks for the info. It may be helpful for some people I know.

One problem I see is that many of the people who need to use this do not have computers, nor do they have access to computers at libraries right now.

Indeed. I thought about that, too. That's a very good point about libraries. I will have to file this way, but I'm fortunate to have computers and internet. My internet is usually 2GB highspeed per month and 128kbps the rest of time, but t-mobile has lifted caps for a while.
