Once upon a time, "life" was defined as the ability to replicate, but no longer.
A virus is a complex, chemical compound, that has the ability to invade living cells and trigger these cells into replicating the virus. However, note that it relies on living cells to achieve this result. By itself it is inert.
A social media comment, or "tweet", is similar. If not seen, it is inert. It has no "life". It relies on living beings to replicate itself.
If seen and retweeted/reposted it behaves as though it did have a life of its own.
Both a virus and a tweet/post can have a seriously detrimental effect on their hosts.
Come to think of it, have you ever considered the bible??? 😝😋

This reminds me also with one of the signs most Muslim scholars believe in as the signs of apocalypse. Their God is supposed to send some kind of a wind (at the end of time ofcource) to "kill anybody with a true belief in their hearts, even if that velief was as small as a sand partical"! Eventually meaning that 'spreading the word of God' would stop then. Suggesting that the apocalypse will only occur to the 'non-believers.' so no more 'cell-a-like' multiplying nonsense! Greats times those times would be!

This is basically meme-theory as laid out in Richard Dawkins' book 'The Selfish Gene'.

Similarly, to propagate itself, the Islam virus must infect human consciousness.

Indeed.

Any religious virus, be it Islam, Christianity, etc, etc, requires the invasion of a human host to replicate and multiply, it has done so since almost time immemorium simply because it seeks out those who have no resistence/immunity or a weakness ( temporary or permanent) to the religious virus just as does any other virus though, unlike thevirus that is religion, real viruses, when robbed of an abundance of hosts will die out or be forced to evolve thus becoming stronger imo.

@Triphid Your statements are accurate, but amount to "whataboutism". The Islam ideology has caused more death, suffering, subjugation and enslavement than has any other. Until Islam is eradicated, it would be prudent to support other ideologies in their opposition to Islam. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

@PBuck0145 Would I correct in assuming that you knowledge of the Atrocities caused by Christianity in the past 1,000+ years is somewhat limited?
If that be so, may I suggest you do a bit of 'reading up' on subjects such as the Crusades, the Christian Roits of Alexandria, Egypt, the Invasions of South America, the pogrms of the Catholics against the Jews, the Huegenots, the Protestants, the Lutherans of Germany, the pogrms of the Orthodox Russians against the Russian Jews, etc, etc?
A quick estimate of the death tolls from all of those would be an underestimation, to say the very least, if one were put the tally at anything less than 5-6 million.

@Triphid Citing historical atrocities as a reason not to address the current, ongoing problems of Islam could be regarded as intellectual indolence.
[thereligionofpeace.com]

@PBuck0145 IF you bother to look at it chronologically then you will see that Christianity has a 600+ year head start on Islam, though by no means am I in favour of Islam, Christianity or any other religious belief system what-so-ever my estimate earlier was based solely upon those native peoples, etc, etc, from the times when Christianity invade their lands and ' persuaded (???) ' them to convert to Christianity I did NOT include the tally of the Crusades, the Riots in Alexandria, the Catholic pogrms against the Jews, the Protestants, Huegnots, the Lutherans nor even the death toll of the Jews from the Tsarist pogrms in Russia pre- the Russian Revolution.
Oh, and let's not forget the death of Slavery, yet another example of the Christian Ideology that white skinned Europeans or Caucasians are superior to those of a darker skin variety.
And please give some actual documentary evidence that is both verifiable and irrefutable to support your claim of a Death of 300 Million caused by Islam alone.

@Triphid Irrelevant. We need to combat the atrocities which are happening TODAY. Whataboutism is the cop-out of a person in denial of reality.

Yes, I have considered the bible as something full of shit like your pointless post.

You mean simile, surely?

@Petter no.

@Mofo1953 suit yourself. Nobody else will.

@Petter always do.

@Petter !00% wrong there imho.

@Triphid wow, you know more than I on what I always do. What am I thinking right now? I'm asking because apparently you should know more than I.

@Mofo1953 Well since I rarely ever going into what I consider to be somewhat confused and erratic messed up jumbles I'd definitely hesitate to even consider your mind.
But hey, that is my opinion.

@Triphid tipical stupidity fom an isolated and pathetically lonely troll existing in shitty town Australia, whose every comment to all other comments here, for a post you didn't even make, is idiotically adversarial and inane and screams of a tragically isolated existance. These are evidence of not only you being a busy body troll, but that you believe these interactions, no matter how much you intend to use them to feel some modicum of escape from your pathetic existence, ain't gonna be a replacement for the two companions that left you. They so, however, speak volumes of why both saw the light to run away successfully from the opinionated buffoon you are.

@Mofo1953 At least Australia and Broken Hill are nowhere near as shitty as some places in America and trust me, I have been there twice, the first was when I was 13 years old and second time, also being most definitely the last, was in 1998. The only decent people I met there were my long lost Cherokee and Najavo Relatives.
I have never seen cities where there is rubbish piled in alleyways, etc, etc, as there are in places like New York, Los Angeles, etc, etc.
And at lest here in Australia anyone can walk down the street, smile and say Hello or G'day to a complete stranger and get a smile and Hello/G'day back instead of taking the chancve of either being mugged, beaten, stabbed or shot or even the whole gambit.
Though I will say most emphatically that 99% of the members I have communicated with , etc, on here from America are decent people.

@Triphid envious anybody? pathetic. All I know is that this is what your fellow aussies say of your country: [theblokeshow.com]

@Mofo1953 Yeah well, real 'true blue' Aussie take that show with a very small grain of salt and usually piss that out at the earliest possible convenience, it is 100% biased drivel spewed forth from the rancid mouths of drop-dead drongoes who have NEVER left the confines of the concrete jungles in which they live.
Shit, I remember being stuck on the road-side of the Highway across the NullaborPlains to Perth, W.A. in 1972 when the drive sporcket on my Honda 750 threw off a tooth, 17 cars pulled over to ask if they could help but they had no room for my bike and me in their cars, but a truckie came along, pulled his semi-trailer over onto the side of the road, asked if he could help.
When I told what had happened, he just looked at the bike and said, " How about we have a cuppa and a smoke then I'll help ya load her on to the trailer and give ya ride into the nearest big town that has a motorbike dealer so as you get it fixed?'
8 hours of travel later and with me offering him money over and over again we arrived in Kalgoorlie, found a garage and a mechanic and still he refused to take any payment except me shouting him a cold beer while my bike was being repaired.
That, my friend, is STILL how true blue Aussies out here in Outback act towards and treat each other unlike those stuck-up snobs in the big smokes.

@Triphid so says you without any evidence. Still pathetic.

@Mofo1953 Well then, why don't you come over to Australia after the Covid-19 Pandemic is gone and prove me wrong then?
Show the world that you ARE the tough, intellectual Hero that you believe you or simply shut the hell up and slide back into your safe little retirement Cabana in Florida.
There Mr. Know it all, I've thrown down the gauntlet are YOU man enough to pick it up?

@Triphid no need to, I've already proven you wrong with your compatriots' website. Your macho bullshit attempt is even more proof that you are a pathetic lonely isolated troll.

@Mofo1953 Aha, so it seems ,in my opinion, that you are just far too 'Chicken -shit' to accept a dare and prove me then.
The only evidence you have to offer is some completely crappy, gutter-garbage show set mainly in cities ( concrete jungles) where people wouldn't know a real, true-blue Aussie if one walked up and said G'day to them.
Shit Petter, I'm feeling truly sorry for you and as my Dad would say, " You're kind of like the Barber's cat, all wind and piss but very little else."

@Triphid even more pathetic attempt to be macho. Why don't you come here instead if you're such a big manly man. Afraid to learn what a real city looks like instead of your puny little shithole of a town. Don't dare me, bitch; you come here you whiny little sheila. I'll be waiting for you here in the civilized world to show you how to behave like a real man and not like the whiny little pathetic aussie piece of shit that you are.

I like the post. Thank you.

Read something the other day about ways to beat the virus. I need to find it. I hope this virus is stopped and eradicated at some point.

3

I do consider religion a virus, it really has nearly the precise mechanics of a virus/bacterium.

I wonder what the infection/replication ratio is for it compared to things like Covid-19 and other attackers

Replication rate seems to depend on the condition of the targeted host.

@Lorajay Yep, so replication rates for everything from AIDs and Ebola to the flu are calculated in lots of ways. The main # being an overall social average, therefore taking all variables into account fine with a big enough sample size. And then being able to separately parse that data out for replication rate within different populations. i.e. female vs. male, ages, preexisting conditions, et al.

Your point?

To make you think.

@Petter About?

@Storm1752 Do you need a subject in order to think. Just let your mind wander and connect scraps of your knowledge into new relationships. Here we have a virus, a tweet and the bible.

@Petter Yeah, I reviewed it and while there is a germ of a point there, it seems you want the READER to generate the point, which indicates to me your post is like a virus, inert.
It just sits there waiting to trick an unsuspecting reader into not only replicating it, but generating auxiliary 'points.:
Sorry. Not falling for it.

@Storm1752 You just did!

@Petter But, does your 'wandering mind' ever actually find its own way home or is it, as it seems to me, just another stray dog roaming the streets?

The R. Dawkins theory of viral religion, it needs alway to be given nuance but it is certainly true.

How things are classified as life or not, is based on data and scientific knowledge, but of course where the line is drawn is completely subjective, so that you are as free as anyone to classify a virus as alive or non alive, as you wish, on theory or hypothesis is affected by classification. Just as you are just as entitled to keep calling Pluto a planet if you wish, classification is not science but merely scientific culture.

1

Very few things are completely self-sufficient. If you don't eat, drink, or breathe you end.
Yet you consider yourself 'life'.

Viruses 'eat' cells to continue their kind. How is their situation qualitatively different?

1

The bible had an ill-fated conception but it is also a virus.

2

The epic of Gilgamesh is also “retweeted,” but it’s hardly a virus. Doesn’t the virus have to have some other cultural bri-a-brac in order to spread?
