Well, it seems to me that some of those pesky, annoying God-bothering Kerb-side Preachers have not yet go the message about Covid-19 and self-isolation, etc, etc.
On my way up to get my Sunday paper and my usual Sunday Lunch, there were 2 God-botherers standing on the footpath trying to hand out religious pamphlets,no masks, gloves, etc, and rifling through piles of pamphlets that would been through at least a dozen or more hands before theirs.
When I asked them why they were NOT obeying the Social Distancing, Isolation rules in place, their answer was " We have no need to worry, God and Jesus are protecting us."
When I got to the corner shop I mentioned this occurrence to the lady behind the counter, her response was, " Can you hang on a minute please, I need to report this to the Police for the sake of everyone else."
After she had contacted the police, we went out onto the foothpath, stood apart by the recommended 3 metres and watched as the police presented the God-botherers with, what we could only assume, was their individual Fine notices and a very loud, audible warning that " should they be reported for this Breach of the Regulations again they would be arrested, charged and held in gaol until Bail was arranged."
Did we, the lady and I, do the right and decent thing here or should we have merely ignored the risks they were placing in the way of everyone that the stooped, etc,?

You absolutely did the right thing!

That’s a bit lively for Broken Hill!

Sounds like typical god bothering stupid Australians.

This is why i want to print out little chits of paper that have a web link to the orgin of the species, or the feynman lectures...and say "salvation...is just a click away!" Lol

Ignorance is bliss!

A bit more: The problem is, "Is the order lawful? Is it in violation of the constitution?" Etc.

Too many insane rules are now being applied, via china-19, and the UK "hate" speech laws, to do any "snitching" about people who violate NON-LAWFUL orders.

Currently in the UK, you cannot sunbath in a field 1/4 mile from even a road. Drones are being used to find the people and fine them. That is bullshit.

As is the china social credit orwellian nightmare.

These are not lawful orders. Snitching is not proper response to these evil bits.

And other considerations.

But, witnessing crimes and "snitching" to the authorities is absolutely required when living in the US. Other wise you are a complicit criminal.

You absolutely did the right thing and probably saved someone's life because of it. You are a hero!

You both absolutely did the right thing!
Nicely done!

@SeaGreenEyez Under the 'Stay at Home' Rules we ARE permitted to go out to get groceries, take-away foods, exercise, take the dog for a walk on a leash and may visit family members who are NOT in a Lock-down condition in an Aged Care Facility/Hospital, etc, etc, but we can ONLY visit other family members in their homes at a rate of 1 visitor per household.
IF you bwant a FULL and comprehensive inventory of the Regulations here in New South Wales, Australia check out www.nsw.gov.au/covid -19.
Thus you will see that I was 100% in obedience with the Regulations.

"If thine eye offends thee? pluck it out"

Err, meaning what exactly?

@Triphid You are feeling some possible angst for dobbing them in. When in fact is like cutting off a gangrenous toe.
PS. I thought that using a bible quote would be ironic.

@273kelvin No, not feeling any 'angst' for the dobbing in of those Jesus Freaks as far as I am aware, just asking for opinions mainly.
Though I'd have no compunctions at all IF it were legally allowed to dobb such Jesus Freaks in another time as well.

@Triphid I totally agree. Its the sheer arrogance and vanity of these bozos that get me.
What those guys were doing is very akin to what happened last week near me but on a secular level. It seems that a bunch of anti-5G activists set fire to a mobile phone mast. Just at a time when everyone is so reliant on cyber-communication, these know-it-all bastards decide to destroy what to many is a lifeline.

Who gives a fig about a couple of jesus freaks. The real question is: What can you say to get the cops out there AFTER the COVID 19 lockdown?

There is valid argument that they are trying to commit murder. Have a read of "Firms in tax havens axed from state bailout in Denmark, Poland - Business Insider"

@FrayedBear
I think you miss my point. You can get rid of them for any reason at any time for all I care. And yes, I agree that if a single death can be traced to a single person who neglected the respect of their fellow man, for no good reason other than to just be rebellious, then absolutely charge them with Involuntary Manslaughter. But if you're saying these 2 that are mentioned here were trying to kill anyone, ya lost me...

Sadly, it's more like HOW do you get the Cops to come on a call-out around here when I was told some 6+ months ago that , quote, " We only are permitted to have ONE Patrol car on the road during each shift because of the low crime rate in this area" - Inspector Smith, NSW Police, Broken Hill District.
And yet one can, as I do by Bus go past the local Cop Shop every second Tuesday morning and see EVERY Cop car parked in a neat row in the street outside the Cop Shop, at least @ cops walking down the street to get their morning coffees, a round trip of 4 city blocks btw, past 3 other Coffee Outlets, from the local ' Yuppie' Coffee Hang-Out.
Yet about 4 weeks ago when I rang the cops at about 9.30pm to report that 2 Indigenous women were having a real set-to Cat fight in the street in front of my house the response I get was " Can you detain them until we can get a car around there, we are very, very busy at the moment."
Yeah, like I'm a 66 year old man who is going to step in to a cat-fight between 2 women who are literally tearing at each other, ripping out hair and tearing off clothing, etc, etc, and try to 'detain them' for the next hour or so, you've got to be kidding.

@Triphid
lol, sorry to hear that, m8.

Sounds like you're in a part of Australia like where I am in Arizona. On the main road, which we have only 2 that go everywhere because everything is a canyon here, is where you find all the cops. Otherwise, everyone's got their guns and just has to fend for themselves. But they're not that bad, they will show up. We get a lot of tourism but in off-peak times, they take hours, if at all. But that's just Jan-Feb. We had a mountain lion in the old complex I lived in and my neighbor called. Said they never showed and she was so afraid she never left her house. I felt bad but still though " you crazy nut, why are you just telling me now!" lol

@Macanudo My house is in a lane, a paved one with houses facing into it the whole length, that almost runs the entire distance acros the town as well. The closest main road is about half a city block from me and it connects 2 of the Highways that enter town from either side.
If you get a Google street map of Broken Hill you'll see that is a medium sized sort of town/city for inland Australia, Pop. 19,000.
So it's not as if anyone is asking the cops to leave the 'safe haven' of the paved roads and built up areas when they are askedto come to a problem, etc.

@Triphid
Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love living where I live and would move for all the tea...
But I am originally from New York City so I will say that living smack in the middle of nature, which is basically all of Norther AZ and seems Broken Hill as well, does come with its challenges. I love the laid back life, but I expect cops to be on the ball.

They probably are supercarriers. I don't think I'd call the cops tho. Why should the officers risk getting infected? Besides snitches get stiches.

Are you Australian? With an attitude like that you should be. How fucking irresponsible are you?

@FrayedBear I'm an American. It's a colloquial expression. I was joking. I'm not irresponsible. However I'm not in favor of turning people into the police for a nonviolent misdemeanor. Where I live, police are in harm's way everyday. There was a shooting on my block this week. I'm not going to call the cops to write some silly ticket for a couple of stupid Jehovah's Witness or Mormon missionaries. Just saying. You stay safe down there.

@barjoe And so one person infecting 100 people of whom between 2&4 die is not violent. You are fucking mad.

You posted about a incident that occurred and sought validation. Everyone assured you that you acted perfectly. One suggested they thought differently. You then lashed out at that person using profanity. Twice. First of all you didn't do anything. The lady at the store called the cops. You were just there, an inactive participant. I only said I wouldn't call the police, as you didn't. You say I'm "fucking mad" but you possibly are the one who has issues. You just have nothing better to do then pick fights, keyboard tough guy. Have a nice day!

@barjoe LMAO. I did not make the post.

I would have photographed them & used my phone to call the police to deal with them using the emergency line.

To assume as you do is to put an ass before u & me.

Expressing my opinion is "picking a fight"? LMAO ROFL No it is disagreeing with you.

@FrayedBear No. Cursing and lashing out at people is picking a fight. I thought it was your post because the OP was from Australia, so I was mistaken. Did you ever think that that call exposed those police officers to the virus? I live in a city almost 2 million had 400 gun murders last year. A 911 call for this would've gotten low priority I don't know why I even bother explaining this but I like to engage in polite discourse and I wanted to show you common courtesy. It's not all cut and dry. Again you stay safe.

@barjoe obviously we don't live in a country of ignorant angry trigger happy psychopaths. It sounds like you spawn what you get. According to the following report homicide occurs for about one in one hundred thousand people inAustralia each year.
Out of a population of about 25 million Australian people only about 238 were murdered in 2013-14 a reduction from 300+ in 89-90.
This makes your 400 in 2 million look like a bloodbath Hollywood script and that's only gun murders - that or you are happily living in a lunatic asylum with your response evidencing the lack of moral fibre needed to rectify the situation.

The sooner your borders are permanently sealed and the key thrown away the better for everyone in the rest of the world!
