Hi Everyone! I am going to be setting up a Zoom room for the following groups. The room lets you chat and see each other in real time. There is no charge for participants. I will be setting up times for each group to be determined. Please check for exact time and days with the following groups. Group membership required. The following groups will have zoom access: Single/Mingle/Chatroom, Hippie Land, Leftists, Me Too, Cancer Sucks and Jewish by Culture. Please PM Sassygirl3869 with any questions or concerned. Thanks.

You can send a code with Zoom if anyone is interested in security. That way you know the person who entered is legit.

right Stephanie I will send out codes via pm

If we enter these chatrooms, will we automatically be in zoom or do we have to download an app or anything else?

downloading Zoom is easy. Then you can participate in any Zoom group for free.

Considering all the issues Zoom has had with privacy, why not try something else ?

(gratis, open source/libre, end-to-end encrypted, works in browser -- no installation required)

I've been reading up on Jitsi, developed in Europe, and based on open source java code. A great feature is the ability to have a password, given to participants.
This could be sent, confidentially by PM, to those wishing to participate, along with the URL, thus giving security against being "bombed".
The extra bonus is that there is no subscription fee, it can apparently handle up to 75 people, and there is no time limit.
Here's what Mashable has to say on it. [mashable.com]

@Petter . . . good article, although for privacy, NO ONE should use email to send the URL to other participants -- bad idea.

@FearlessFly Agreed, but using the agnostic.com messaging feature, or even WhatsApp, should be fine.

@Petter . . . hmmmm

@FearlessFly Good grief! Nevertheless, for everyday video chats by most people, it should not be a huge problem. How secure is Skype's messenger?

@Petter : . . . I run Linux, I'm a 'Monopolsoft' bigot 😛

"Skype is not considered to be a secure VoIP system as the calls made over the network do not make use of end-to-end encryption, allowing for routine monitoring by Microsoft and by government agencies."

@FearlessFly Have you got a Raspberry pi? A fantastic little toy with amazing power.

@Petter Agreed. I'd like to, too many interests. 😟

@FearlessFly Treat yourself to one for your birthday. Less than $40 for a pi4.
