This is why some Christian's are looked upon with such disdain. I was at work the other day. And a coworker and I got to talking. I explained that at the time I was staying with my ex wife. I was helping her out financially, until she got things straightened out again. At which point this person had the audacity to ask me. If my ex wife and I were having sex? Cause god doesn't approve of sex outside of marriage.

My first thought was, how in the hell is it any of your damn business what we may or may not be doing? ( We're not by the way). And 2nd, your opinion of your thoughts on this. Based merely in your choice to believe in something. That I equate with the same belief as Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, or the Great Pumpkin. Was neither asked for not wanted. And is not a conversation one should be having at work.

Finally, I spoke with a manager and relayed my concern with this individual and their comments and questions. And it does seem that it has alleviated this issue. But seriously, do some think that because they're religious or devout. That it gives them a pass on workplace ethics, or simple common decency?

The other day my phone rang and I immediately thought this has happened before. Now I am replying to this post and I have that same feeling again.

This is what I get a lot at work. Like who gives them the moral authority to tell others what to do. They really should read more than one book and that was out of line

One could wonder if your coworker has some kind of perverse interest in other people's sex lives. You could have asked them if they often thought about (fantasized about?) the sex lives of those around them. You could have also illustrated how inappropriate their question about your possible sex life was by asking them something personal about their sex life. If they have the right to ask about yours, then certainly you have the right to ask about theirs. Of course, this happened at work where certain conduct is expected and the way you handled it was the most appropriate for that setting.

In terms of Christian beliefs, the idea of live and let live doesn't really exist. God is as likely to punish everyone if even one sinner isn't kept in control. This is the nonsense reasoning behind blaming gays, feminists, and others certain Christian preachers don't approve of for natural disasters like hurricanes, tornados, and tsunamis. These perceived transgressions become a concern for their safety and curbing whatever the identified behavior is becomes their business. I doubt your coworker was concerned about you possibly having sex outside of marriage would cause the earth to shake, but at the same time, I can't think of another reason why they might believe your personal life was any of their concern unless it would somehow effect them adversely.

The collective guilt of the majority

Most, if not all Christians claim of a purer than pure lifestyle. All above board. Do not and will not 'sin'

Deep down, they are drenched and soaked in immoral lifestyles and behaviour; perverts, I call them.

My last relationship was with a Christian, ss she called herselg. Yes, I respected her view and her religion. Didnt think it was appropriate to ask for sexual intercourse, because of her religion. I was happy to wait. Two years into the relationship, she initial sexual contact, because according to her, "men cannot do without sex".

When I eventually called off the relationship, she blamed me, that I made her sin against her body.

I gently reminded her that it wasn't me, but she who insisted sexual contacts, she participated and enjoyed all the trappings: didn't hear from her again.

Religion and politics are 2 taboo subjects which shouldn't be discussed in a business environment. To me, I think that it is bullshit your supervisor doesn't respect your wishes.

Here's my favorite response to a question like this...look them directly in the eye...lift your brows and in a very loud voice ask, "Why on EARTH would YOU ask me THAT?" And then wait for them to finish babbling. If they do manage a response, say "THAT is NOT a valid reason!" Then pull in your dignity and sail away. It'll work...I promise.

Some people that are Religious seem themselves as somewhat better I've encountered, the Idea that they physically never speak to their a God but they say he disapproves of normal Human functions and activities is pretty Funny

Yes, they are sure they are the chosen ones and the only arbitrators of decency.
