I tend to just think they may like my posts or comments or perspective.

When I follow someone it's just because I'm interested in what they have to say

It's nicer to think that we share similar opinions or enjoy each others opinions.That being said, sharing private communications would/should be welcome. After all, social media sites are for communicating/sharing. Now I'm all warm & fuzzy feeling. ?

I do it for two reasons: Geographic proximity and interest.

I generally follow the Texans as I find them and others after I've seen a couple of their posts and think they offer insteresting thoughts and questions.

I am not sure what it means but you definitely have contributed many more interesting posts comments and reply’s than me . You have submitted 75 posts and 793 comments as opposed to my 3 posts and 75 comments .You have 12 followers and I have 20. By my standards you should have many more followers than me.

For me it is I like how they think. I am not here to date people.

In my experieince here it has meant they have seen some of my posts or my comments on their posts and found them interesting. This could mean they are merely interested in the social/commenting aspect of the site, or it could mean there might be some actual interst in me. I have had some direct communication with site members here, but no romantic connections have been made...yet.

I don't think it is as personal as liking you. I think it is more an indication that you have said a few things that they feel in sympathy with, and they are interested in seeing what else you have to say. If they feel more strongly than that, i think they would send you a personal message.

Sometimes they will message me showing personal interest. Sometimes new members follow other members because of their views. I have 56 people following me. I haven't messaged with half of them. Hope it helps.

I generally follow people who have said something interesting.

Generally, the people I follow are those whom I perceive as having thinking close to mine. Very selfish reasoning.

I am flattered by the fact, that anyone would want to follow my posts.

Maybe he/she likes your style and wants to read more.

I think the answers vary almost as much as the individuals. I follow people because I've liked some of their posts. I think two people follow me; it's up to them to say why.

Just that he/she is interested in what I have to say and or our thoughts are in sinc

Some do tell me and the others I don't think about too much but I do follow them right back.

I can only speak for myself. I follow people whose posts I enjoy reading, as well as those who post questions that are fun or thought provoking. I hope that those who follow me feel the same way. Regardless, if someone follows me, apparently there is value in it on some level and I find that flattering.

I avoid making assumptions about people's online behaviors. If I feel the need to know something, I'll ask. That rarely happens.

Perhaps they are interested in the type of content(s) that you post about, and conclude they may have some things in common.

To me it means something I've said has resonated with someone, I take it as a sign of like minded individuals, a meeting of the minds. It think it is all good.

It means they "got your number."

I guess all the "likes" this thread got only mean many members didn't know the meaning of "following post".
