@Fernapple My grandmom was 2 inches over 6 ft tall. My mum was 4ft 10 inches. I'm only 5ft 8inches. That was a damned 'ornery X she passed on!

@Word interesting study findings to be sure, but even the study authors note their findings are not a challenge to the current understanding that mitochondrial DNA is only inherited maternally, but more a finding of a defect in the process of clearing out the paternal DNA among those who have been found to inherit it. So, yes, men can pass on mitochondrial DNA, but only if they're defective (insert sarcasm here).

@Word Yes I saw an article about that too, though I think that it is thought to be rare. Can't remember where I saw it now.
