In your relationships over your lifetime, has the lack of religion been a positive, or negative force ?

It's not been an issue at all.

When I was with my ex wife I sucked it up and went to church with her even though I didn't want to. If I would have told her from the jump I wasn't having it she would have probably never married me and saved me 7 years of my life.

Religion would not have changed any of my relationships. religious relationships are fake and codependant in this day and age of psychology and science. we cannot know the chronic fears our ancestors faced daily. religion helped them get thru the worst of the very worst. however, I do not let spirituality slip away from me, and I do need a partner who respects the universe and all its power. we are children of the universe, that is not debateable for anybody

No impact at all.

Unfortunately for me, mostly negative, in regards to ones that have lasted for some time.

It has not made any difference in my relationships.

Lack of religion has been a positive force. "Religion poisons everything", especially love relationships...

I don't think I can be in a relationship with a religious person, one of us (or both) may end up seriously injured!

Since I consider the lack of religion to be the neutral, or "normal" position this question is difficult to answer for me. However, the related question, "has religion been a positive or negative force" I can say without hesitation that whenever religion has been involved in a relationship of mine it has been negative.

I have no religion, so it would always create a chasm in mutual understanding when my s.o. had religion. It would affect my ability to understand how she would see things, and simultaneously undermine my ability to explain to her how I would see things. When it was a major issue the relationship would be very short-lived. When it wasn't a major issue, it was still there, and would eventually undermine the relationship.

Never thought about it, Such as never deciding which sexuality I was, Nature takes her course and we follow. Religion , I have always viewed as stupid but never really got engaged with people over it , Until of course they start shoving it into our laws. Then it was fight for my right to remain sane. My first wife was so catholic but did not show it our first few years of marriage, It grew on her and then we had candles burning in the house and pics of the virgin mary and then more shit. I just asked if this was real and yes it was, got a divorce

Negative. Especially with my wife's family.

Positive for me. Probably not as much for others.
