Only 3rd degree murder/manslaughter, by the time he gets to court he'll probably have the charges reduced to the point where his victim is charged with property damage to the knee of the cops trousers.

hope not.

No sane person would disagree, imho.

I hope they all get taken in, this stuff has to stop.

Thank fucking dog.
Now do not make this about the cop. Make him irrelevant.
Mr. Floyd is the most important part of this story, along with all the other blacks and people of color who have died, falsely jailed or abused by the police.

Should have happened earlier.

2

I watched the videos ....it looks like murder to me. I think an arrest is warranted for all four officers.

Still 3 to go. They said nothing while the poor victim was pleading for his life. If they let them go after a trial bad things will happen in the twin cities.

2

What about the other cops that were there and let it happen...they are just as guilty.

The press conference said the investigation was ongoing. We shall see.

"With all the perversions of American democracy that we have witnessed, few rival the dystopian spectacle of a U.S. journalist calmly reporting the news and repeatedly offering to reposition his crew at the police's request, only to be arrested, cuffed and hauled away alongside his crew," said Suzanne Nossel, CEO of PEN America, advocacy group that fights for press freedom.

She added: "For us at PEN America, where we routinely document the arrest and imprisonment of writers and journalists worldwide, the action was eerily familiar, but something we expect to see in authoritarian states: Turkey, Hong Kong, Egypt. To see it in the United States of America is appalling."

Appalling, yes, but no longer unexpected.

@Beowulfsfriend Sadly so.

Agree on the arrest of the killer, and the other three officers should also be arrested and charged. Brutality, excessive use of force, and disregard for the life and rights of any human being is and should be absolutely unacceptable.

So far past time, for sure. Now I want to charge him with murderous recklessness in the execution of the authority granted to him.

And also the other three. How hard would have been just to handcuff him?
This is wholly unacceptable.

@Rodatheist he was handcuffed.....

@Heidi68 Un-be-lie-va-ble!!

@Heidi68 It IS murder!!

@Rodatheist I would classify it as first degree murder. Not in the normal sense of premeditation but being an officer of the law, he knew he had control of the handcuffed man, he knew the man was saying he couldn't breathe and he blatantly ignored the request to let him up. Premeditated.

@Heidi68 You are right. The moment this policeman realized the man was handcuffed and complaining of inability to breathe, at that instant, his actions became intentional. And if he was following protocol, the city is in for a big lawsuit.

@Rodatheist City is in for a HUGE lawsuit anyway...regardless of protocol...this was nothing short of Manslaughter.

About god damned time!
