Having taken classes about public speaking to hostile crowds before, this is a masterclass in action. He pauses to reflect on his words and thoughts. He pivots away from the question he doesn't want to answer in order to address something he thinks will be more comfortable for him and relevant to his audience. He generalizes his statements so it can reach more people. And he doesn't even answer the question but leaves people feeling somehow satisfied that he answered something that they wanted answered.

You can see him struggling for a response that doesn't include the words asshole or shithead. This why I can't be a politician.

I was suprised how blindsided he appeared to be by the question. I mean it is hardly secret whats going on here! kudos to him for putting together a thoughful, diplomatic answer-ish.

Well done. I’m not gonna begrudge the guy for not criticizing Trump. He is the prime minister of Canada. This is called diplomacy and I’ll give him a pass.

I saw that this morning. I respected the fact that he used the time to directly speak of the same issues regarding his own citizens, and though I do wish he would have taken a more direct stance against how Trump is handling things, that pause sure did speak volumes.
