I might have said that humans are my favorite animals, but humans are guilty of polluting the environment, so they are not my favorites.

BUT---if you're interested, do some searching on bonobos. They're our ''other'' cousin...female-led, they begin and end every social interaction with some kind of sexual encounter. They're brilliant, full of endorphins, peaceful and never go to war with one another. Chimps, on the other hand...are male-led, status-driven, sometimes murderous and quite different from the peaceful bonobo.

Humans have traits of both. Some of us are more ''chimpish'' while others are ''bonobos.'' Which are you? Compare trump's angry expression with that of an angry chimp sometime.....

Being that his mom died he needed someone to help him out I don't know if another Chimp would have taken the task . I agree it needs to be with other chimps . Loss of habitat threaten all animals . Humans are a threat too all life on earth including themselves . I love watching Jane Goodell's reunion with one of the chimps she studied . Without Dian Fossay and Jane Goodell's primate studies we might not be as appreciative of these creatures . I remember a ad in " Outdoor Life " magazine in the 60s which showed a dead gorilla hanging up as a trophy next to the guy that shot it . You wouldn't see that nowadays .

@nogod4me I have 30 years experience working at a large, accredited zoo. Primates are my special interest. There was a time when zoos didn't recognize the ''cultural'' needs of primates...monkeys/apes were routinely taken and raised in ''nurseries'' because (a) the public loved to see them and it was easier.

Now..things are different...luckily for the animals. This baby would have been placed in a facility with other chimps and would have quickly been introduced to the group.

@nogod4me, @Besalbub Believe me, accredited zoos know how to introduce babies to chimp groups...whether or not it's at infancy or a little later. I've seen dozens of primates adopt infants who were abandoned/orphaned. It can be done and can be done well.
