The military in general (worldwide) is an indication that humanity retains the caveman mentally ,and that the human brain has not evolved alongside the unnatural invironment and culture that they have developed . The sad fact is that most of this planets inhabitants spend huge amounts of time, money, technology, resources, and energy to defend themselves from one another .This is depressing evidence that we are a pitiful failure as a species .

To go. Too small. Two birds 🙂

I'd much rather see some of our overly bloated military budget go toward things that would really help this country such as science, arts, education, healthcare, helping the poor, infrastructure, etc.

Only the ignorant see no value in the education and the arts. In our country no one should lack for health insurance,a roof over their heads and an education or at least training to do a job. During the depression we had the conservation corp which built many of our parks and bridges which haven't had to have many repairs done on them. There is a need for this type of program where those who lack education or training can develop some and get on with their lives. So many great projects were constructed by these workers. The people we have on welfare would benefit from this type of project and give them some respect

The USA's military is like cracking a walnut with a cruise missile. It's ridiculously, obscenely powerful, and it gets more money lavished on it than the entire output of most countries in the world. And yet... I get the feeling that many countries see the USA as a big blundering bully. Lots of money, lots of muscle, but not that much skill. Other, smaller countries, like the UK, France or Israel, have crack militaries with far smaller budgets.

I would like to see the USA have more professional diplomats. We always seem to come out with the short stick. This adm. has been even worse than previous adm.I really fear when I look at who are our diplomats. He has drained the swamp and put them into positions of power without any reason or ability.

I think if our military was used correctly, it wouldn't need to be nearly as large as it is.

I don't know enough about the military to have a good opinion on size, though it seems we might be somewhat top-heavy as a percentage of our budget. My thinking on military matters is that our primary goal should be domestic defense and only rarely, in extreme circumstances, should we get involved abroad, never pre-emptively, never without global support. We've tried in the U.S. to police the world for a very long time, but it seems to make matters worse overall. /2¢

President Eisenhower warned us years ago of the growing power of the military-industrial complex. He was right. But the real culprits are the big-money arms industry and the corrupt politicians they bankroll -- particularly, but not solely Republicans. I say this as a cold war veteran.

I believe that the corporations of this country have to much power and it is time to reign this in and give the power back to the people. We need term limits on all branches of the government.

It is my position that we have unwisely entered into the last two wars and that we should make every effort to remove our troops from those areas as soon as possible. Because of the different type of fighting now being used I believe the use of the special forces makes more sense to fight an asymmetrical type war.I do not believe the leaders promoting these encounters have used the best judgement in selecting where to send troops.from an economic or ethical basis. I am concerned that big business has been the cause rather than an ethical challenge to our country.I have served our country and still am very proud to have been a Marine. However, i do not see any reason for some of the conflicts we have entered and the loss of life plus the damage done to thousands of those who have served.

Thanks, Marine well said.
