There is no time like the present

I was in a very conservative religion for almost 40 years but I have to admit I had some good times in those early years in spite of the religion. My willing partner somehow started taking things to serious and that with a lot of other things got me out of it.

Well, better late than never I say, at least you can live your life the way you want to now.

I agree! I lived for so long trying to make my parents happy with many things, religion being one of the areas I totally failed. I was raised and confirmed in the Lutheran church but never go sucked in. I questioned everything and still do. It wasn't until my 30s that I started to get bold enough to have religious conversations with my parents. My dad used to tell my mom, who told me, that Dad was sure I was going to hell because I didn't believe in God. In all other ways I'm a kind and generous person but because I didn't believe in God I was going to go to hell in my father's eyes. So sad. For the last 20 years I've lived my life my way and also wish I'd started sooner. I sure hope there is reincarnation because I know how I'm going to live next go around for sure!

Don’t, but do continue to speak up. A slow bloomer.. everything felt worth the wait. And, it’s no doubt waiting for you. Even if you’re not emerged in religion, you dodge it, and learn to hate it, especially witnessing what it’s doing to friends, like you. But with that pent up energy - everything should be better than good ... you’ll have an appreciation beyond we mortals
