If this
isn't the time for a Universal Basic income, I don't know when it would ever be.

when my dad was alive he used to always say that not everyone can be a lawyer or doctor or engineer etc etc. the people who are day care providers or sanitation workers or the people picking our food are just as an important part of society as the doctor. they help make society work in their own way. a universal basic income would help the poorest workers in our country which would in turn help us all.

Universal Basic Income together with a Universal Flat Tax would work. No need for welfare or minimum wage. Employees would be paid according to the market value of their work.

Flat tax rewards money hoarders and inheritors while punishing low income workers.

@desertastronomer Did you even read the attached article?

@PBuck0145 It's not an article, it's a blog. Opinions don't constitute evidence.

It really is weird that people here hate the rich, but also want the rich to pay them not to work.

One day people might actually wake up and realize that taxes, politicians and regulations do not make their lives better, they make everyones lives far worse.

Politicians and govt actors get rich by pandering, false promises and stealing. The deserving rich earn it by improving the lives of many. Yet, that is not good enough.

We don't need endless govt handouts. We need economic and tecnological freedoms to empower one to build and to dream.

Because it is technology that frees us and makes our lives better, not govts who steal and provide handouts.

Evidence please.

Libertarian Technocrat garbage.

@LovinLarge Is that a complete sentence?

@TomMcGiverin In your opine. Have fun fighting for your bullshit socialist utopia.

@SCal Translation: You have no evidence to support your dubious factual claims. Color me not surprised.

Also, "opine" is a verb.

@jorj No. It is not all for one, one for all. That is fallacy. Socialism and Capitalism are at odds due to the state, but at least in capitalism the state allows individuals to own property. How can redistribution be equal when not everyone pays into it? Makes no sense. Producers get the short end, while nonproducers reap the benefits.

Im all for machines producing ubi, so long as govt actors are not doing the distribution. Because humans are inherently flawed in ways that predispose us to be self-centered. Ubi, comminism, etc do not change that. At least capitalism leverages this trait into a benefit for many. Govts and socialism lower the bar for everyone in the name of equality, when we are absolutely not equal.

@SCal You seem to know nothing about how thee real world works-probably read too much from that illegal immigrant welfare queen-Ayn rand.Countries with a social democratic base thrive,capitalism has failed everywhere. Think 1929. Capitalism and oligarchies drive wars ( see Nazi Germany and Iraq). Libertarianism is armed anarchy-see so many Third World countries with warlords.

@SCal You're a twit. Time to block.

@jorj Social programs are socialism. Republicans are also socialist.

@jorj I have figured it out. Its code for socialism. And yes, you are correct about one thing. All if the Americas have been steeped in socialism for a very long time, thus the escalation of poverty, violence and the police state.

They all go hand in hand.

@jorj Trickle down and socialist programs. Both govt failures.

The lesson? Less power to govt engineering of planned economies. More power to the people who create, innovate and produce.

@jorj It is technology that propels man, and govt who hinders.

@LovinLarge "Also, "opine" is a verb."

It's used in it's proper syntax and context.

I can't comprehend it for you.

@jorj Yes! 100% govt hinders technology. This is not even debatable.

Do you honestly believe that subsidies work, or are an efficient way to redistribute wealth within an economy? This is econ 101, sir. Subsidies are just govt picking economic winners or losers. Subs are kickbacks to govt sympathizers that do not work, period. Also not arguable.

@SCal False. I checked it on grammarly..

Also, still zero evidence to support your original comment.

@jorj

Planned obsolescence is codified into law and is the backbone of govt control over price, production and an intentional tactic to keep society fixed.

Also, the FED claims deflation is bad, and sets inflation targets as a tool to battle the price reductions and innovative technological advances which occur due to Capitalism. These are admissions that power of government and control supercede the benefits to people that come with free market Capitalism.

The Lightbulb Conspiracy - one of my favorite doc movies

@jorj If govts screw up on both sides as you say, how can their interference in markets and picking winners and lossers be good for people or economies?

@LovinLarge Spelling and grammar green check! Nothing to see here.

If you want explanations or proof of claims, you will need to be more specific. I made several comments, but I have proofs.

@SCal You confused "opine", a verb, with "opinion", a noun, in an incomplete sentence. You're just like Trump: even in the face of contrary evidence you claim to be right. I already know that everything you've said is false. The onus is on you to prove all alleged facts if you wish to be afforded any credibility. To tell you the truth, that ship has probably already sailed.

@SCal Reported and blocked.
