I really wish some people on here and in real life would stop telling others "GO TAKE YOUR MEDS!" just because they don't agree with something someone else is saying. So here's a mini education lesson for the ignorant, insulting, and disrespectful.

First off, if someone doesn't agree with you, that does not AUTOMATICALLY make them "crazy" or stupid. People are going to have different opinions. Retorting to telling others to take their meds during a debate, discussion, etc., is not productive, nor actually debating. To me, that means they actually don't have anything beneficial, factual, or good to say. Just because someone has a different opinion than you does not automatically mean they're on meds. This also goes for saying certain politicians should take their meds as well.

At the same token, people who are actually on medication doesn't AUTOMATICALLY make them "crazy" or stupid. Saying something like that is extremely insulting and disrespectful to people who are actually on medication for mental health issues, like myself.

I am on two medications for various mental health issues (depression, anxiety, and PTSD). I have been on them for 9 months now. When I'm NOT on my meds or have NOT taken them, I'm still coherent. I just have bad anxiety, depression, and other symptoms that have NOTHING to do with stupidity or "craziness."

I'm not a snowflake. I'm a person who is an advocate for the millions of people who have mental illness. When people say things like this, they are feeding into the stigma associated with mental illness and they are PART OF THE PROBLEM attached to the stigmas.

Luckily, all the people in my life (family and friends) who tell me to take my meds are saying that because they care about me and want me to be healthy.

@VeronikaAnnJ I hope it's not too late for Deez Nuts to enter the race.

Thank you very much, this is an excellent point. "Take your meds" is a form of the stigmatization of mental illness and has no place in a civil society.

You know I agree with you😉

I share your frustration in this regard. It really doesn't kill to be kind. For those who don't believe me, feel free to test my theory and try to prove me wrong.

There is a huge difference between disagreement on a subject and personal insults. People who jump straight to personal insults, I avoid like Ebola. Trying to directly address the shitty behavior in a social media context is rarely successful, but like you, I will speak up against it when I see it.

Your is post makes some very good points. It was inspired and enlightning to those who a different view of some people.

Regardless of meds you are articulate and realistic. I liked your rant.

Additionally, people should argue things without flaming the person or people with whom you argue. I know you mentioned this, but it is an important point, worth repeating.

Well said. That bothers me too.

It's just another lazy way to dismiss someone you don't agree with, like calling the other person a troll.
