My brother and I went to #AACon this past weekend and got to meet Cicil from cognitive dissonance, one of the first atheists shows I followed when I was leaving religion

I apologise, but I do need to ask.

What do you mean by "leaving religion"?

This is a completely foreign concept to me. Do you mean "I am leaving the deity with which I matured?". Or "I am leaving the religion that my family continues to believe in"? Or something else? I only ask because I can walk away from any religion right now, It does sound like there is a process involved here. It's just a different country.

I don't want to be nosey, I'm just honestly interested.

No I understand. For me personally it was a process because I was raised by fundamental Christians and the indoctrination of my church growing up was pretty intense. It took a few years for me to even identify as an atheist because I was looking into other religions as well when I was younger.

@StephanieM Okay, got it. Thanks for the clarification.

What is AACON? Some sort of hedonist atheist gathering??? We cannot be found congregating! The christian, cult, extremist would love nothing more than to have us all in one place for easy extermination!

That's awesome! I was going to take them out on my boat but we never got around to it. Seem like great guys!
