Conversion by the sword. And that's the truth its followers don't like to think about, cause, it's all about love, you know!

I wish I had said that !!

Is impossible to become anything "by the quality of its truth" when there is no truth whatsoever.

Differences in Religions, or lack of Religion , has always promoted violence and probably will continue to, at least for the next couple generations. Sadly, certain polititions have found if you just praize Jeezuz and throw in a couple pious quotes in your speeches...maybe have a few fame hungry clergy people following you into the oval office and practically pushing each other out of the way to get into the picture with the president....you'll have the christians thinking you're the second coming of jesus. And they'll fight to the death for you.

Correct.
The colloquial expression "Kill em all. let God sort em out." comes originally from the words of Pope Innocent in his response to the Captain of the Templars question when ordered to excute the Gnostic Heretics; the captain had asked
"How shall we tell the heretic from the true believer?"
To which Pope Innocent replied
"Kill them all, the Lord shall know his own."

This callous disregard for life itself is shown in the witch trials, the Inquisition, and in the treatment of aboriginal peoples globally by the spread of the "true" faith.
If you value the soul above that of life on Earth, it is pretty easy to make life cheap.

My god is the only true god and if you don't join my religion you have to die because my peaceful, loving, and most merciful god demands that I kill you.

no shit.....

you go girl, and that's the truth, it even says that in there book! there eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth would leave the whole humanity, blind and toothless! starting with their own kind

A hell of a lot of truth to that. Like a herion habit, if all of your society is hooked on the herion, then it isn't seen as a vice, but an asset. And once hooked, you indroctrine your children. And as Sony & Cher sang, 'The beat goes on."

A grifter's paradise. Called to love & care, a good thing. And then be given a get of of hell free card, faith. Thereby making all actions neither moral or immoral. Wow!

Hmmm... I'd have to say that Christianity reached critical mass when Paul was able to rope Constantine into the fold.

True starting with the Crusades they slaughtered Muslims and Jews in the name of god.

It is not just physical violence, but the threat of social sanction. Take a hypersocial creature, tell it everyone not in the club is going to hell, threaten to ostracize and demean them or deny them social reciprocity if they don't tow the party line, and you have control. It doesn't have to rise to the level of physical violence except now and then, either surreptitiously or as an excuse for territorial expansion or something.

They slaughtered heretical Christians, such as the Cathars of France, as practice for the main event.

you are right. Mankind is nothing a bunch of war ants.

And the Conquistadors slaughtered the inhabitants of the "New World" in the name of religion.
