It reminds me of a great issue touched on in the fabulous classic; when Harry met Sally...

Eventhough I'm currently in a stable relationship, I must admit that with women, and especially with the attractive ones, frienship might seem to me like a consolation prize. I would always wonder what if...

I've read all the interactions below, and can honestly say that I've identified and worked on every one of those issues. Perhaps that's why all of the personal relationships I have with women are friend relationships. It seems that actually caring about women makes men particularly un-sexy.

Nah that's how the last guy I had a relationship with caught me.

Disrespect.

Chronic lateness.

Lack of compassion and understanding of why I feel unsafe as a woman.

Does not listen.

@Fred_Snerd

You just showed lack of compassion and understanding of why I feel unsafe as a woman.

Since age 15 when I developed breasts, men have grabbed me, stalked, kissed me against my will, catcalled, molested and sexually harassed me.

Two male supervisors tried to rape me at the Tacoma Family YMCA and an insurance agency. One supervisor caught me alone in the office, pinning me by the throat against a wall. When he let go with one hand to loosen his belt, I managed to break free and run. I never went back for my paycheck because we worked alone in the office.

In 2007, I was raped. Two years later, my 19-year-old daughter was raped and beaten. We both have PTSD.

"Because you are thin, you look easy to grab," a man said on a first date. This chilled me to my core. "That's a horrible thing to say to a small woman," I replied. His words haunt me.

@Fred_Snerd

STOP mocking me.

I would feel better if you showed compassion and understanding.

@Fred_Snerd

Buzz off.

You're tendency to sexualize all friendships with women.

@Fred_Snerd Another fellow that can't tell the difference between love and lust.

@Fred_Snerd That's a hard one. It depends on where we're at and what we're talking about.

After years of being married, I finally realized that most men have no idea that any woman would be nice to them without flirting. I imagine that misconception goes both ways.
