Do you think Democrats will sink teeth into this? The law is completely against Pompeo? [cnn.com]

'Senate-confirmed Presidential appointees may not even attend a political party convention'
In a letter to Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun on Tuesday, Castro noted, "It is highly unusual, and likely unprecedented, for a sitting Secretary of State to speak at a partisan convention for either of the political parties. It appears that it may also be illegal."

The Texas Democrat cited the Hatch Act and State Department guidance -- including a December memo from the State Department's Office of the Legal Adviser that "Senate-confirmed Presidential appointees may not even attend a political party convention or convention-related event."

"In furtherance of the constitutionally mandated obligation to conduct oversight of the State Department, as well as to determine whether and legislative action is necessary, to address this matter, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations intends to examine this issue carefully," Castro wrote.'

My question here is not discuss if the thief was right or how bad he is. My question is are the Representatives we chose to go to Washington an effective police?

Wannabe dictator types don't like to leave positions of power once obtained. Putin, being an ex-KGB Agent, has always been about the long game. Rules and laws don't seem to apply to these particular republikkkans.

I think that there is so much lawlessness or at best ‘customs turned on their heads,’ that a struggle would be taking place daily if not hourly, attempting to bring corrections! I think accountability will come, but when the dust has settled!

This is why Biden supporters have to do everything they can to get other supporters to vote by whatever method is available in their state. Once Trump is out of office, then they can start the Trump Crimes Commission and charge Trump, his family and his cronies / cabinet. The prevailing legal opinion is that his pardons for co-conspirators are void exactly because they were co-conspirators (who could also testify against him). After Biden wins, many will face jail. Just look at Nixon’s co-conspirators - almost all did jail time.

I like your optimism!

Sigh. It's just the Trump Administration Corrupt Act of the Day. Nothing will come of it. His base won't give a shit because they haven't given a shit about anything else he's done. Democrats will try to do something, maybe, but nothing will happen. We have treasonous criminals running the country, and I'm afraid we've reached the point of no return. They're looking the other way as Russia interferes and the USPS is being destroyed from within, so I won't be terribly surprised when Trump "wins" again in November.

Not to mention when the Dems fail again, Trump will just use it against them like he is every other failed attempt to hold him accountable.
You are right. He is probably going to win again.

Laws don’t seem to matter to these repubs in power now. 😡

Or any of their supporters.

@JeffMurray Yes, a poor education doesn’t help when it comes to understanding the constitution and why we have laws.

@Redheadedgammy There are a lot of highly educated people that support Trump out of greed, racism, etc. Being educated doesn't preclude being a stupid asshole.
