My neighbor is a man in his mid thirties. He is always kind and polite to everyone. Am not very talkative but I always greet him whenever I see him. So I noticed for a couple of weeks now he is just at home, and he never goes to work. I saw him today and I decided to ask him about this. He blatantly replied that god told him to quit his job. This response left me speechless. By the way, he is married and has three kids. It's really sad to see how ignorant he is.

He could have an over active front right lobe and be skirting insanity

I think it's creepy when people claim that god speaks to them....mental illness.

Sounds like a good excuse to be a lazy twat

God tells me to quit my suffocating 15 hr a day job every day...but I have 5 years until my pension matures and I can listen.

He might be pulling your leg. He might be on a staycation, family leave or mandatory vacation for different reasons.

You probably wanna stay away from this kook from now on, assuming this is in the USA.. he probably has a gun and won't be long before 'god" tells him to kill his family or some other crazy shit. BE CAREFUL.

I neglected to mention God also gave him winning Lotto numbers too.

Some people's lives are controlled by their beliefs. Sad. Hopefully he finds another job to support his family

It sounds to me like this is more of a psychotic break than religious nuttery

I wouldn't be surprised one bit. Growing up, I knew a few people that quit their job to start pastorial jobs. I know many church leaders in Africa who quit their job to start a new church; with prior careers ranging from medical doctors, physicists, mathematicians, etc. One wouldn't expect that such highly trained scientists would quit their careers to sell this opium to the masses

Yup, I was actually thinking about that. He might decide to start his own church.

Translated he got the sack and is embarrassed

I'd be giving that a wide berth. If he thinks "god told" him to quit his job, and he did it, he's likely to believe that god may tell him to do other things, and he would do them.
If the police come to interview you about your interactions with him, make sure you tell them
about this conversation. It's likely, at some point, that may happen.

I really hope it doesn't come to that.

@Agnosticatheist1 Of course. However, it's best to be prepared for the possibilities.

exactly what I said, she should be careful !!

Sounds a bit mentally unbalanced.
