the only charity to which i would donate specifically as an atheist, and i think nonatheists could get behind it too, would be the freedom from religion foundation. i donate to planned parenthood and the aclu, as a person, without regard to whether or not i am an atheist. what has my atheism got to do with the charities i support, unless it was, for example, the freedom from religion foundation? that is a concern of mine to be sure but it's not the only one. the fact that i do not believe there are any gods (and in fact believe there are no gods) actually does not dominate my every waking moment.

I don't donate any money to charity's as most of the money is taken up by the huge salary's they pay the C E O'S..and the people get very little.but I do pay for a little girls education in Bali.and that way I know it's doing some good

Planned Parenthood of Arizona (my Amazon Smile is set up to donate every time I order; I also donate throughout the year at different times), Public Radio (two different cities), HRC, several Democratic organizations. Also St. Mary's Food bank (nothing to do with religion, everything to do with hungry people/familes).

I have my Amazon Smile set up to donate to the PCOS Awareness Association. I strongly believe in donating to charities that are personally meaningful. I also donate to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Veterans charities, and various LGBT+ organizations when I can.

Doctors Without Borders is my favorite.

I give my time and money to several local charities. Some of them include those that help combat child abuse, domestic violence, homelessness, illiteracy and animal abuse.

Do you think atheists are less charitable than theists? My mailbox is full of requests for donations from worthy causes and I give what I can when I can. I have donated to the League of Women Voters, the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Planned Parenthood, The ACLU, the Audobon Society, Natural Resouces Defense Council, Amnesty International and others.

KIVA - not a charity, but I love the idea of microfinance. There is a whole group of agnostics, athieists and freethinkers as a active group on Kiva that help vet the microfinance group to help ensure it is secular rather than religious.

Canine Companions for Independence / Guide Dogs for the Blind - legacy of having been a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs many moons ago. One of my pups didn't graduate, so I had first dibs on him as a pet, one of the best damn dogs I ever had.

I support a variety of charities. I do my best to keep them non-religious based. Medical - alzheimers, cancer... but, for instance, I also shop at thrift stores, and many of them are affiliated with one church or another.
I won't support a charity if their idea of support is to supply bibles, but if a religious based group is helping in a way that seems actually helpful, I will consider supporting them.
I also practice random acts of kindness and carry gift card (and new sox/hats/mittens) with me (in the car) in case I run across someone in need of a hot meal.
